Re: Talking Point: Our 2026 Nintendo And Switch 2 Predictions

First-party titles: a new Monolith game, Mario Galaxy 3 (it would be really stupid on Nintendo's part not to release it with the movie), an Ocarina remake.

Ports: Metaphor, Baldur's Gate 3, Clair 33. Oblivion, RDR 2, GTA IV, and GTA V. And, moving to realm of fantasy, I really hope for a simultaneous GTA VI release just to see the Gabeboys throwing a fit all over the internet.

While I disagree about late ports (Switch is my only gaming platform, so they're all new to me), it annoys me greatly to see nine S2 upgrades of S1 games cluttering this list.

Sure, in most non-Skyrim cases, these ports offer improved visual, framerates, and even some new content. But given that you can already play the S1 versions on S2, it all feels a bit redundant. I'd much rather see this space given to titles that genuinely debuted on the platforms in 2025.

@Kingy but what's the point in separating "blockbuster" and "niche" games in the first place? Just for the satisfaction of seeing your favorite mascot on the top?

And what would be the metric - the number of votes? They seem to have a minimum threshold already, since Demonschool (with an 8.7 - https://www.nintendolife.com/games/switch-eshop/demonschool) is nowhere to be seen on this list. Also, Trails has the same number of votes as Dragon Quest, a much more well-known franchise that surely qualifies as a "blockbuster." Since this is a Nintendo site (with its heavily nostalgia-driven community), first-party titles will always attract incomparably more votes than third-party ones, regardless of their genre or popularity on other platforms.

Personally, I look at this list as a great opportunity to catch up on games I might have missed (even those damn roguelikes, that I'll probably hate, like most of them).
