The dictator sim Tropico 7 is on its way to the Switch 2 and will be releasing alongside other versions on 28th January 2027.

This Switch 2 release is being developed by Engine Software, aka the Switch port specialist behind titles such as Ni no Kuni: Wrath Of The White Witch.

The Nintendo version of the title has been optimised specifically for the Switch 2 and also comes loaded with some unique features. This includes Joy-Con 2 mouse controls and GameChat support.

"Tropico 7 Special Edition brings the series beloved signature mix of city building, politics, economics, and *questionable presidential decision-making* to a version specifically optimized for the handheld platform. Making use of the console’s unique features, the game supports mouse controls for Joy-Con 2 controllers  for more precise control over island construction and management as well as GameChat to communicate with friends via voice chat or share their screen."
