On this fine bank holiday Monday in the UK, the week's UK charts paint a familiar picture, with the best performing Switch game once again being Nintendo Switch Sports.
This one is — unsurprisingly — turning out to be a juggernaut for the console in its early days. Four months after its release, it hasn't dropped out of the top ten, sitting comfortably in third this week. However, the usual chart topper Horizon Forbidden West has been dethroned by a new release — Saints Row. This reboot hasn't received the warmest reception, but it's a new game in a well-known modern franchise.
Other recent Switch hits have slipped even further down — both Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and Two Point Campus are barely inside the top 40 (at 36 and 38, respectively). But really, it's still good news for Nintendo as Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons are still sitting prettily among the best-sellers.
Here's this week's top ten in full:
Last Week | This Week | Game |

Nintendo's next major release is due to hit soon — Splatoon 3 launches on 9th September, and we expect that will make a dent in the charts, especially given how fun this weekend's Splatfest was!
Are you playing any of the top ten games this week? Or are you still on Xenoblade like some of us are? Let us know!

You have to wonder how quickly that first place will drop within a month.
@Fizza More like two weeks tops.
I wonder how well Soul Hackers 2 sold compared to SMTV and Persona 5.
8 years ago you told me gta 5 and Mario kart 8 would still be at the top of the charts I would have thought you mad. But here we are. And also if you told me they were on top because 8 years later neither had a sequel in that time or for the years to come I would not know what to think.
@Fizza I'm pretty sure we'll see Splatoon 3 at #1 in 2 weeks but we may see The Last of Us Part 1 at #1 next week.
Plenty of those Saints Row buyers are in for quite the surprises.
Woo. Awesome to see Forbidden West so high too.
@westman98 Soul Hackers 2 is at #11.
@westman98 Hard to say with digital in the mix. Steam is completely unaccounted for as a result.
What I can say is that SMT V debuted at #9 in the UK market as an exclusive on one platform. P5, unsurprisingly, debuted at #1.
Soul Hackers is at #11.
@Grumblevolcano
No may about it, The Last of Us: Remastered: Remake: Part 1: Less Content Edition will be number 1 next week.
Saints row won’t be there for long
How can a game lacking quality sell that well at launch.
Is Horizon Zero Dawn a pack in title or something? (Not being snarky, it's an honest question.) It's a decent signal for how well the PS5 is selling if so (Erm...a signal for a lack of software if not!)
@GrailUK apparently around half of ps5's sold in the UK are with game packed in, and the rest normal physical sales. But since nearly 80% of PS games are now sold digitally these charts don't really tell us much anymore.
@KindofaBigDeal I'm not too sure it will be, as a massive fan of the game itself I don't plan on buying it again. And there seems to be a lot of PS fans not happy with the price so will be interesting to see the sales.
Personally I hope it fails and shows Sony that these cash grabs are not a good thing.
@westman98 Definitely less then Persona 5. It doesn’t have the Persona brand grab power and other aspects that people enjoy in Persona games like the big social life sim aspect.
It could outsell SMT V though. SMT V was just on one platform and SMT never had the mainstream appeal like Persona so Soul Hackers has a better chance to outselling it
@Serialsid
I love The Last of Us, the PS4 version is one of my top 10 games of all time. In many ways it felt like the spiritual successor to my favourite game of all time, Resident Evil 4.
I hope this "remake" bombs. It sets a terrible precedent of just releasing a shinier version of a game with less content nevermind added content all at a higher price than the game has ever had before.
Even Nintendo's much maligned full price Wii U ports pretty much always contained extra content, could now be played portably and cost no more than the original release.
But unfortunately I think the game will sell gangbusters. Hope I'm wrong.
@mom1fan because your definition of “unfinished game” is completely different from the casual gamers and the family gamers that Switch Sports targets to
@GrailUK
Yes, there is an official Horizon Forbidden West PS5 bundle that launched in late May. Since its launch, that bundle has accounted for 50% of PS5 hardware sales in the UK.
I still prefer playing Go Vacation Switch or other sports party games than Switch Sports.
something tells me Saints Row's sales are going to significantly drop next week.
Every time I see GTA V on the top 10 bestsellers list I die a little inside
Those Saints Row players are going to return their copy soon in exchange for GTA V. Unsurprising cause GTA V is back in the top 10 again.
Uncharted with Zombies next week? Well.. Splatoon 3 the week after.
Saints Row is Extremely Fun, and I highly recommend Buying it!
@Serpenterror Saints Row will always be better than that overrated gta 5.
as someone who still regularly pops switch sports in, i play it cause its fun lol. it still has that replayable and easy-to-pick-up nature, and item unlocks are pretty forgiving so theres always a steady sense of progression
tho the game has no surprises so i cant recommend it unless youre really sure you wanna play just 6 sports+golf later
@NintendoEternity The old ones yes but not this one.
Sad to see Saints Row top. It's a bad game. Yet people still buy it on the name alone.
@fenlix It would be fun to see a top refund chart.
