Following on from the Metroid Dread demo late last month, Nintendo has now released another one - this time for its upcoming title Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain.
If it looks or sounds familiar, it's because it was originally released during the Nintendo DS era way back in 2005/06. The new version arrives on the 3rd of December and will be priced at $29.99 USD or your regional equivalent. It comes with multiplayer and touch screen support, too.
Here's a bit more about it, courtesy of the official game page:
Take on a series of brain-bending activities that test your mental mettle in Big Brain Academyâ„¢: Brain vs. Brain for the Nintendo Switchâ„¢ system! Play a wide variety of activities, like memorizing a series of numbers, identifying an animal as it slowly comes into focus, or helping guide a train to its goal in fun, fast activities. Go brain-to-brain with friends and family in 4-player* matches to see who gets the highest score. Everyone can play together at varying difficulties, so a kid can hold their own against an adult in this battle of the brains!
Get your own Big Brain Brawn score with a fun test. Boost your skill and speed by practicing certain activities. Of course, you can also prep for your next multiplayer brain battle or compare scores with friends and family. Unlock dozens of outfit options for your in-game avatar—from a cat outfit to a corn costume!
Want to see how you match up to brainiacs around the world? Hop into Ghost Clash mode to compete against other users’ data**. Choose from mental marvels worldwide, folks on your friends list, or family members who have profiles on the same system. Outside of Ghost Clash mode, check your rankings to see how your Big Brain Brawn matches up against others.
Will you be checking out this demo prior to the big release early next month? Comment below.

Not gonna pick it up but I think it’s cool that they’re bringing it badk
Can’t believe the tagline isn’t Big Brain Energy
Ooh, can’t wait! Downloading the Demo today for sure! I sure wish I could get it for Christmas, but my parents’ order our presents before thanksgiving. That means I can’t get Diamond/Pearl or this game. D’:
@minecraftemery it could be preordered
I like that they are starting to do more demos (at least it seems that way). Wasn’t planning on getting it, but maybe I will after finding it a trial run.
I skipped these on DS/Wii back in the day, perhaps under the assumption that they were cheap Brain Training knock-offs, so, I was quite excited to see Nintendo bringing this long dormant franchise back, as I was about Brain Training on Switch (which I played every day upon release until the release of Animal Crossing ).
I would also love to see the Style Boutique series return, but with a greater emphasis on stock management as opposed to the repetitive dress-up-your-customers gameplay of the original.
@Pirate1 I never thought about that! Great idea! Also, it’s not that big of a deal because my birthday is in March so i can get whatever I can’t get on Christmas but want to get.
About what you said about the game, I will try and see if I like it. It looks really good, too.
Just played it and it’s pretty fun. There’s not a lot to do in the demo outside of making your character and playing 3 training games, but I enjoyed it. I miss these brain training type games so I’m excited to pick this up early December. Glad it’s only $30 too!
.....crud now I’m gonna have to download the demo 😂😂😂
It’s probably gonna tell me I’m stupid. Seriously sometimes I forget to zip up my switch carrying case and cause my switch and games to fall out.
@nessisonett They better have a BvB server.
I previously had no plans to get this game but even the short demo is weirdly addictive..even though it really seems aimed at 10 year olds XD
Also I am super bad at the shapes and shadows one. 👀
I played the one on the DS I believe and enjoyed it. I tried this demo and enjoyed it. I think I might enjoy the full game.
The demo is... brief, but very endearing.
I was already keen, but unlike some demos, this hasn't dissuaded me. Day one.
Wow two surprises in a row, it must be my birthday
Probably won't bother since I'm too distracted with other games, but I'm still getting the game itself.
Nice, I will have to try it. It's good that the game isn't expensive, if I like the demo, it won't be such effort to get the whole game.
It's very fun but seems too easy so idk... Maybe I have super fast reflexes but I got top scores first time on everything. :-/ I'm wary of buying a game like this with no online play as I got bored of WarioWare Get It Together very quickly. At least this one's more reasonably priced.
i'll buy it. i'll have a lot of games to buy on 3rd december:
big brain academy
danganrompa compilation (pre-ordered)
disney magical world 2 (first i want to see some reviews)
......140€ in one single day
Will try the demo, might be fun for the family over the holidays.
I was slightly interested and I will try the demo. Every game should have a demo.
@BloodNinja Can you imagine a BR Brain event?
@N8tiveT3ch They should do it!
Share your best scores here.
@BananaMetallurgica Ah you must be 'happy' then that advance wars is post-poned.. (cries) (not a dig at you ofcourse, but just sad i can't play advance wars in two weeks)
