Dragalia Lost, the action RPG developed by Cygames and published by Nintendo for mobile, has been going strong ever since it first released back in 2018. The game has been treated to regular updates throughout its life and has lasted longer than some of Nintendo's more recognisable names in mobile gaming like Dr. Mario World – which is closing down entirely later this year.
Despite this, things are about to change for the app starting later this year. The game's director, Yuji Okada, has today shared a message with players explaining that its content release schedule and development and management structure are set to undergo some changes, resulting in less content being released each month:
"Hello! Yuji Okada here, director of Dragalia Lost.
As always, thank you for your continued passion for and support of Dragalia Lost. I'd like to take this opportunity to inform you of some upcoming changes to the game's content release schedule.
Starting this November, the game's development and management structure will undergo some changes accompanied by a reduction in the amount of content released each month going forward.
In particular, the number of new adventurers and dragons added to the game each month will change, and starting in December, new onslaught, defensive, and coliseum events will no longer be added (though existing ones will return at regular intervals). Please note that these details may change without prior notice."
Regular players will be pleased to know that this doesn't spell the end for the app, however. With its third anniversary just around the corner, you'll still have things to look forward to.
"Please rest assured that we are hard at work developing content for the game's third anniversary in late September and beyond, and we will continue to hold events and release main campaign chapters that we hope will delight and entertain players going forward.
Thank you for playing Dragalia Lost."
Do you still play Dragalia Lost? Do you hope to see it flourish for years to come? Let us know down below.

It's over for Dragalia Lost
What a waste of an amazing IP not releasing a full fledged console version on the nintendo switch (or even just a port, really!)
I admire their intention of using mobile gaming to increase the reach of their IP...but where is Dragalia Lost on Switch lol. I know they are reluctant to go full on cynical with mobile gaming...but that's how companies make the money unfortunately.
Maybe they are happy with their performance (I mean the Switch is a beast...so who knows, it might be working!)
This is not good
I'm expecting this game to be shutdown within the next 18 months. Looks like yet another Nintendo mobile game will soon bite the dust.
Never played it, don't think its aviable here. I don't really play on my phone anyway so have not really checked.
Would be nice if they did a sequel / reboot on Switch.
It was a nice little game but, except for a bit of Pokemon Go, I basically stopped playing all Nintendo's icky gatchas when Apple Arcade came along.
I play it daily, I hope it doesn't die out
I will start by saying I know nothing of gaming logistics, but I wonder why Dragalia is restricted to a handful of countries
As long as the game itself doesn't get closed, this is no bad news - just a bit easier to catch up for new players who may yet include myself if the game's "worldwide release" ever surpasses the conspicuously abridged globe of many "worldwide" releases in mobile land. I actually succumbed to the option of sideloading the game recently - but unlike FEW, this one isn't even in Russia which means I can't link my main account to it. I do have a US account among the ones I made for Switch, but seriously.
I son't really play on mobile, but the game never released here in France so...
I played Dragalia Lost for a couple years after its release, but I stopped. I didn't care for the combat in the game, and at the end I was just going through the motions to get the free stuff and not enjoying my time with it. This was a good, high-quality mobile game though, and you could get a lot of enjoyment out of it without spending any money on it. I would welcome a sequel on Switch.
@mjharper Same, I played for a little over two years almost daily and then finally got tired. I think they could do an incredible action RPG on Switch if they wanted to, but now it seems like that might not happen.
Probably not a bad thing, I played for around a year and a half but the events, repeat events and everything else happening at the same time just got too overwhelming. Personally and for my own preferences they just did too much too fast and it went into overkill.
A Switch port is needed.
They should let us keep playing Dr. Mario or purchase it.
Like others are saying, Dragalia Lost is a great IP, so where is the Dragalia Lost:ReLink console game on Switch??
@somnolentsurfer You're correct, Apple Arcade is changing everything. I suspect Nintendo realizes this and will eventually offer a full mobile gaming subscription service (which I would fine with).
imagine if they made a Breath of the Wild styled open world game with the series that would be amazing
I enjoyed this game but I found the amount of limited time events and content actually became overwhelming after a while. I’d rather they slowed it down a bit to be honest.
@WockioTockio
I guess you can say that Dragalia Lost will be lost.....
Been playing every day since launch and I gotta admit I’m starting to feel the burn. Not because the game itself as it’s still fun but the events themselves sometimes overlap and getting enough of certain materials just to unlock boss fights feels like an unnecessary grind. Throw that on top of reduced wyrmite distribution and more grindy boss fights to upgrade the newer wyrmprints and mana spirals and it begins to feel like it’s just to much time to spend on a mobile game.
Maybe now I can actually go through the story which is actually really good and deserves to become a full fledged Switch game.
@sevex
I feel the same. I played everyday on the last event and somehow I never unlocked the Omega fights. I never got enough points to unlock the final key >_<. It felt like I had to grind more than usual and I just didn’t have the time to do it.
