Update: SNK has confirmed the titles that will be included in its Neo Geo Pocket Color Selection Vol.1 – four of which are all-new releases that haven't been seen on Switch so far.
The games included are:
- SNK Gals' Fighters
- Samurai Shodown! 2
- King of Fighters R-2
- The Last Blade: Beyond the Destiny
- Fatal Fury First Contact
- SNK vs. Capcom: The Match of the Millennium
- Metal Slug 1st Mission
- Metal Slug 2nd Mission
- Dark Arms
- Big Tournament Golf / Neo Turf Masters
The collection is available for download today for €39.99/£39.99. Titles compatible with the first Neo Geo Pocket can be played in monochrome, and you'll be able to check out 3D models of the original games and their cartridges.
Original Story [Sat 20th Feb, 2021 09:45 GMT]: Earlier this week, SNK enthusiasts with a Switch finally got their hands on SNK vs. Capcom: The Match of the Millennium.
If you've not picked this one up yet, or any of SNK's previous Neo Geo Pocket Color releases, then its newly announced Neo Geo Pocket Color Selection might be worth waiting for.
"SNK is proud to announce that a compilation release (including SvC: MotM, in collaboration with Capcom) will be coming to Nintendo Switch! Please stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks!"
According to SNK, more details will be shared in the coming weeks. It will feature all of the six previously released Pocket Color games. As noted by Destructoid, this includes Samurai Shodown! 2, SNK Gals' Fighters, King of Fighters R-2, Fatal Fury: First Contact, The Last Blade: Beyond the Destiny and of course this week's release.
There's no price for this compilation just yet, and once again there's no release date. Would you be interested in this compilation selection? Bought MotM yet? Leave a comment down below.

Hmm. Does this also mean they stop releasing new ones?
I want marvel vs capcom on the switch, just saying.
How about latest games SNK?
[spongebob fish voice] That's what we've been waiting for! IT'S WHAT WE WANTED ALL ALONG!
This is cool but I hope they don't end the series at 6.
There's still the two metal slug games and Card Fighters
I'll get this as I haven't downloaded any of the neogeo pocket colour games yet
I bought Match of the Millennium but may have held out for this one. Wish they were more transparent earlier on! MotM id great, so only complaint is I could've received even more games in one 😂
I hope there is a physical release!!!
@Yanina I sure hope not! We still haven't gotten the two excellent Metal Slug games!
Only six games, they could include 20 and I would be okay. Perhaps this is only volume 1.
It's still nothing but fighting games...
Lol. Everyone is on a collection kick at the moment!
I was holding out for this!
If they're doing this then why not just port the OG Neo games and not the portables?
So what are the best Neo Geo Pocket Color that are not fighters?
This would be the time to release it physically. Then I'm in.
Give us Card Fighters you cowards!!! I'd totally buy this on cart if it had that as well.
Neo Geo Pocket, rather have these on 3DS
Where's Metal Slug?
dang... well, THAT'S sick!!! My buddy and I have recently proved that all these games (that we've played, so far, especially SvC) are INCREDIBLY fun and wild times... perhaps it's the simplicity and charm of the games (in terms or looks). Or maybe the fact that despite the games having the same "difficult" super moves like their full-fledged arcade/console counterparts, the moves are pretty easy to pull off? Either way, great fun!
@gojiguy in terms of Neo-Geo, that's quite alright! (Which personally, I feel Neo Geo was REALLY popular for) 🙂 Besides... this COULD just be the fighting game collection... There's still the puzzle games, the Metal Slug games, and a bunch of others that they might group into a collection 😁
@brunojenso that, and it sure would make things easier in terms of unlocking characters in SvC Match of the Millenium (since you can xfer points)
I’ve bought most of these already. Love these games but the joy con makes the special moves a little harder to pull off for me.
I'd be interested, but 6 barely qualifies as a collection in my eyes, so I'll be price conscious.
Sega, time to follow suit and release Sonic Pocket Adventure!
@PhilKenSebben If you want others to appeal to your demand. Best not to disrespect them first.
@Ghost_of_Hasashi Ha! Its a joke/meme phrase. Not actual disrespect.
I would have thought this would be better suited on a cartridge
Release Card Fighters
I wish they'd include more games. That's like 2MB worth of titles.
These game collections for the Switch sure are nice. I have all the Mega Man collections, the Darius collections, the Aleste collection, the Mario 3D collection, the Amnesia collection, and the Kunio Kun / Double Dragon collection.
One of the handhelds i regret parting with (along with Atari Lynx 2), i liked the robot game for Neo Geo pocket most. I've played a couple of these, Samurai Showdown 2 was enjoyable as was fatal fury. It was a competent little machine, just no one made games for it.
Mildly annoyed since I bought the other already but good for new folks.
Might as well buy the rest individually... I already own Gal Fighters and Match of the Millennium. Even worse they announce this RIGHT AFTER dropping a highly sought after game. As Terry Bogard would say, “hey c’mon c’mon!”
$40 is a fair price for something like this.
@VR32X It was actually announced before, but NL was slow to report on this announcement.
What does Starlink: Battle for Atlas have to do with this?
Just release it already. SO many more good games for this gem of a system - Golf, baseball, card fighters, metal slug, sonic etc. etc. Like shooting fish in a pocket sized barrel!
Yes! All 4 of those unreleased games are the 4 exact games I've been waiting for. Great collection.
I got the price right? I will be downloading this one.
This is cool, though for the price I want to see it in a physical package.
I get the feeling we'll only see it on the likes of Play-asia if it happens.
Good to see extra games on top of the ones that have already been released and excited to hear it's Vol. 1. Now I know I can wait for Vol. 2 before buying other Neo Geo Pocket Color games.
give us faselei you cowards
Physical coming soooooon!!!! Yes!
awesome! and i hope kof 15 comes to the switch as well
Nice the fact that this collection is exclusive to Switch only is also a good thing too as it make sense to be on Switch for the portable side of things.
I'll be getting this just for the Golf game. I really hope Vol. 2 has the soccer game.
Let's GOOOOOOOOO! I do regret buying most of these individually, though.
@Yanina Nope, as it clearly says 'VOL.1"
Gimme that physical
Wake me up when we get Card Fighters Clash.
1 & 2, even though CFC 2 was Japanese only.
They probably didn't, but can anyone tell me if they programmed the clicking of the control stick into the software?
Hey, I actually don't already own two of those. Would love to see a physical release for this.
@Mana_Knight man, I hope we get a bomberman collection.
I literally bought match of the millennium last week. Would have waited a week if I knew this was coming out and I would have spent $40 instead of $7. But not buying this twice. Should be more transparent like the guy above said
@shonenjump86
Horizon Split Pad Pro makes these games feel PERFECT
... hmmmmm I own every single one of these nnpc games and than some! And jag offs I know we all can just emulate them. I'm just bragging! 👊🏻
Ok. I'll definitely pick this up for 50% off. Wish they had announced it before I bought two of the titles tho. I'd be in day one.
Me: It's all fighting games?
Neo Geo: Always has been!
This is both good and bad. Good in that it's a great collection. Bad in that they released many of these as separate purchases already and if you want the four new games, you have to basically rebuy games that you may have already purchased just to get them.
Luckily I waited on these games, so it's good for me personally.
I hope there's a local vs. mode for each, as well as an option to speed up the emulation a bit. Looks a hair slow.

@Screen That is not true though.
@YANDMAN Yeah now. Back when I made the comment there was no artwork for it. But I am glad it says Vol 1.
About time they put these in a compilation. Just makes sense verses releasing them individually. I wish it had even more titles, but this is fine...
Physical version, here i wait!
@JokerCK Samurai Shodown is on Switch and it's their latest game.
@Snatcher i want Tatsunoko VS. Capcom All stars ultimate super deluxe edition on switch.
This is amazing for two reasons...
1. That's a stunning selection.
2. The Vol.1 part suggests that more are coming.
Now if someone could please make a left JoyCon with a little microswitched stick on it...
Very cool. Been hanging off the individual neo geo pockets in my wishlist awaiting this compilation's release. Insta-
The first five are all negligible, but the last five are all masterpieces!
SNK vs. Capcom: The Match of the Millennium is the best fighting game on the system, so it makes the first five games on the list redundant.
Oh, there's no mention to it in the article, but at the end of the video there IS a physical announcement. That's how these compilations must be released, and that price tag had to mean there would be a physical version too. Hope it comes here too.
I’d get it but it’s overpriced
Volume 1 implies another 10 games are coming. epic.
This is a pretty nice collection and I'm hoping for a vol2 with the card fighter games.
I expected this, which is why I didn't buy the Neo-Geo Pocket games that have released so far. Sega adopted the same strategy with the
Sega AgesSega 3D Classics games.Fool me once, etc etc.
@Ralizah The Sega Ages games are not available in a collection though
I just though about a interesting game that should have been released on 3DS : Virtual Boy Complete collection. We could have finally experienced the 3D effects without side-effects and played some lost gems : Wario land, Mario Tennis, Red alarm
@Yanina You're right, I was thinking of the Sega 3D Classics collection!
Why do companies keep putting out volumes of series instead of having all of it on one cart? Mega man, Megaman X, FF7+FF8 with no FF9, Castlevania collection with no Rondo of Blood or Dracula X, Namco arcade games, etc.
I would have happily bought these at full price or physically if they just included all of the games on the series on one download but they just slice them up and leave them at the point where I’d only pick them up on pre-owned or discount.
What is amazing is that the four new games are all non-fighting games!
@MARl0 The bad is that the new games are the first non-fighting games being offered.
So if that's you're thing, so far you're kind of forced to buy the collection.
@WeirdAlUHF334 The original story, which means the original announcement, came on the 20th of February. It's unfortunate that you didn't know, but the information was out there last week; you simply missed it.
I'm pretty much gonna break even with the missing games if I buy the collection right now. But you know what? I wanna hear more about the physical release before I do anything. Just this once.
@BionicDodo Please do this HORI or SNK! The Switch is perfect for having custom parts like the excellent NGPC stick!
Now I can finally play the best Metal Slug games again! Metal Slug Mission 2 was the last NGPC game I picked up from Funcoland in mid 2000.
Luckily I only picked up MotM digital so picking up the rest in the eventual physical release is less painful.
All great games there - I'd just love to have the Sonic game - This is one of my favorite portable sonic games, I like it more than all the Advance or DS ones!
€39.99/£39.99 for few monochrome retro games. Way too much
@dimi Some of these are still worth the full price I pad for them 20+ years ago

This collection is a steal by comparison
I gave away this one for free back in 2006: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Neo-Geo-Pocket-Color-Fantastic-Night-Dreams-COTTON-UK-English-Complete-CIB-MINT/265089713489?hash=item3db8940551:g:KlUAAOSw~15eiq8u
womp womp, lol
@nilcam we know sir. I meant other snk games. Please stop tagging me i didn't ask your opinion.
It's not ideal but this is still decent value even if you purchased the previously-released titles.
The 4 new games would have been just under 29 quid so you're paying only around seven quid more for the box and cartridge models which are quite good in my opinion.
@dimi Lots of them are in colour. These are also great games for under 8 quid each.
@JimmySpades
D’oh!
