Video game accessory maker NEXiLUX is the latest to release a new set of third-party controllers for the Nintendo Switch. They're called 'Joy-Con Alternative', so we imagine it's fairly clear what they're trying to replicate.
Yes, serving as a cheaper way to get your hands on a new set of Joy-Con for your Switch, these new controllers are available in both Blue/Red and Solid Black. A set costs $44.99, so they're significantly cheaper than Nintendo's official controllers, and can be used either separately in each hand or together in a grip.
They're said to offer "accurate motion control and improved ergonomics with rounded edges," and also come with a Type-C cable in the box so that you can charge them from a power source (note the little charge ports on each controller).
If you're interested, you can order either colour from Amazon as we speak (Black / Red + Blue). Those of you in the US should also find them available at Walmart at Total Console.
What do you think? Has the design caught your eye, or are they a little too quirky for your tastes? Let us know with a comment.

Ehhh I dunno I’ll wait for some long term reviews. it’s like so many third party items have good ideas and features but end up looking and/or feeling cheap in some way compared to Nintendo’s more expensive oem products. It’s almost like you get what you pay for....
Eh, I'll Stick with the normal. Already have 2 extras, only will get more for smash maybe.
Very interesting finally a third party controller that retains gyro and I like the thickness of the handles too.
I’m not sure it’s USB-C though, that fourth screenshot looks like micro-USB to me.
I bet the Aussies will use this for hunting.
Wait, USB-C is included? But the Joy Con themselves seem to use microUSB. Do they 'click' into the included grip, which you can then charge through USB-C or is there something else going on here?
I hope we hear if they're more durable than Nintendo's. Only time will tell.
Saw these in spawnwaves reviews. I hate the ergonomics of the joycons. Have my split pad pro but maybe I'll splurge since these are wireless.
@BulkSlash The PowerA Enhanced Wireless controllers have gyro. No NFC or rumble though.
I'll stick with the standard joy-cons.
Interesting. I just broke my right joycon over the weekend.
Have my Split Pad Pro for on the GO but had the joycons as the home controller (for the little ones) so I need to replace them at some point.
As long as they don't drift and have decent gyro and rumble, I'm sold.
It looks ugly but does seem to have a more better comfortable grip to it.
This might be a happy medium for guys with larger hands, like me! Do they attach to the console for handheld mode?
@TG16_IS_BAE Spawnwave did a review for them and yeah they do . They also charge in while attached as well so that's another plus
@BulkSlash you are right about the type-C comment.
Amazon clearly states C, but the photos really don’t look like it.
I’d love for that to be clarified.
Anyone?
If it's not 8Bitdo it's not the third party for me.
@Mr_Persona black looks sharp, kinda like that Hori one
They look good, and the included motion controls are a nice addition.
If the sticks don't drift, these are easily better than the official controllers. I'm definitely interested.
They look super ugly, but idk I haven't read reviews of it yet, so it could be comfortable.
Great colors and design, it looks like. Will keep an eye on this for durability and whether it truly has USB-C charging, which would be a big nope from me if it doesn't.
I have a similar thing (apparently joycons like this have been out for a few months) and yeah they come with a USB-C charging cable and do charge with it, as well as charging on the switch itself. Overall they're pretty comfortable, i like it a bit better than my satisfye grip as of now (makes the switch a bit lighter)
I can't stop imagining these things walking for some reason xD
Looks quite cool.
They look like a step up from the Split Pad Pro. Having proper analog sticks, rumble, gyro and wireless connectivity for $45 is really tempting.
@71nk0 I think these may have also hit a happy medium as far as size. I really don't like the standard JoyCons because they're too small. But that Split Pad Pro makes the Switch absurdly big.
@HollowSpectre Interesting, this might be a good solution for playing in handheld mode, then. Thanks!
still never used my joy-con unironically LUL
@TG16_IS_BAE No prob I'm looking at getting them too.
@BulkSlash
There's an unboxing video on their site. It shows a Y cable so you can charge both at once, it's definitely USB-C. Weird shape to put on the controller though. The cable is at the 0:54 mark in the vid.
Might be more than worth it if these don’t have the drift problem that the originals do.
I'm done when the joy con drift, this could be a good alternative.
I'm happy with the Split Pad Pro, but the lack of gyro and its incompatibility with the analog sticks calibration makes me keep an eye open for better options. This looks like the best Joy Con alternative, thus far.
I want to try these on the flip grip with my giant collection of vertical Shmups. Hope there’s some reviews! I wanna know how the D pad is
Looks kinda cool🙂
@Chunkboi79 spawn wave is annoying he only reviews for clout never says "these are great buy them" there all "nice try" reviews
The ports in the pictures really look like Micro-USB and not Type-C.. Hopefully they just look that way.
Kinvoca, GEEMEE, ESYWEN, BEBONCOOL, Vivefox (the one Spawn Wave reviewed), and now NEXiLUX... all exact same product but different brand names.
Why Nintendo (or Hori) won't release a REAL official Joy-Con Pro/ Split Pad Pro with wireless, NFC, IR camera and HD rumble? So people don't need to buy those knock offs.
looks cool, but where's HD rumble and why can't I buy a knockoff that's not missing functionality in some way. It wasn't long ago that 3rd party controllers were fully functional, but for some reason the Switch generation changed all of that. I love the 1st party controllers but I'd be willing to give these 3rd parties a shot if they'd just go for parity.
This looks like what the Hori spilt pad pro should have been. Happy to be a customer.
So if I connect these onto my Switch will it charge that way, or do I need to charge them only through that USB port I see? Having gyro and having any kind of Joy con alternative to get away from Nintendo's drifting is tempting by default for me. Just need to know a couple of details. I'll see if I can find a review.
@Jokerwolf Yeah mate!
@NintendoPok I like him so that's cool you don't
@Kilroy it's micro USB
@noswitchbutidc @WhoaManWtF @Kilroy @Akropolon
Just checked their website. They have unboxing videos and it clearly shows USB C. The port on the controllers is also clearly USB C in the video. Maybe the screenshots are prototypes? Also, the last picture on Amazon and the Box in the video shows "dual motors". So rumble should be present, probably no HD rumble, though (my guess). And no NFC...

I don't see anything in the article or listing about HD rumble. Does anyone know either way if this is a regular rumble implementation or is it granular?
Already out of stock. Looks like they don't read amiibo, either. Still look better tha the originals.
@Chunkboi79 yeah not everyone does enjoy fakeism youtube videos how dont care about you.
With that grip they both plug into, I would have thought that would plug in to a USB port and charge both of them, instead of having to charge each 'con' separately.
Also I wonder how long until drift does it's thing on these.
@Agramonte I do like my split pad pro, but wish it had gyro nfc etc. I like it's little tabs that sit behind the console, they make everything feel a bit more sturdy and removes that tiny amount of flex and wobble that even new joycon tend to have in handheld mode.

As for "making a quick buck", we were actually informed of these products via a press email - just as we're often informed of upcoming games via PR email.
@Damo hey thanks for fixing the issue. Sorry for the snark. Ill delete the other comment.
recently bought the neon green/pink combo off Amazon (different company, exact same design) and these "joy-cons" are AMAZING!!! They feel perfect regardless if you're using them individually, on the grip, or on the consoles (it's incredibly comfortable with that method). The ONLY "gripe" I had is while using them sideways... due to it's "ergonomic design," playing sideways was clearly an afterthought, which is fine, because I can't think of too many time's I'd need to use my Switch in tabletop mode and playing 2-player games. That said, it's even "worse" using the left gripes D-pad as button inputs (for games like Street Fighter). Other than that, a solid 9/10 for me!!!
If these have joysticks that operate reliably for more than six-months, then they're worth every cent.
might get these!
These are just like plethora of options available on AliExpress.
UK? Any chance
