Update (Tue 28th Jul, 2020 13:35 BST): And it's here! Ageless launches on Nintendo Switch today; you'll find it available for £10.99 on the eShop and there's a new trailer to be seen above.
We'll have a full review of the game for you very soon, so keep an eye on our homepage if you want to read our thoughts.
Original Article (Wed 1st Jul, 2020 10:15 BST): Team17 and developer One More Dream Studios have announced that their upcoming puzzle-platformer Ageless will be launching on Nintendo Switch on 28th July.
If you need a quick reminder, the game tells the story of Kiara, who embarks on a magical journey of self-discovery after finding a mysterious bow that can age and de-age the plants and animals around her. You'll have to make use of her magical abilities to make your way around colourful environments and to solve a variety of puzzles standing in your way.
Key Features:
- Unique age manipulation: Age flora and fauna through various stages of their life cycles to solve puzzles standing in your way
- Puzzle platforming: Ageless uses the environment and the age manipulation mechanic to provide intricate platforming challenges
- Emotive storyline: Traverse through a pixel-art world of wonder and find Kiara’s true purpose, interacting with various important characters with their own stories to tell
You can find more gameplay footage in this older trailer below.
Chris Chester, producer at Team17, has said, "Working on Ageless has been a special experience. One More Dream Studios’ debut title is a wonderfully thought-provoking game with a lot of heart, and it’s been a real pleasure to help bring their vision to life."
Will you be discovering your inner hero when Ageless magics its way onto Switch later this month? Tell us below.

YES! Just looks like an RPG style Celeste, hopefully as its Team 17 there will be a physical in the future
So sick of the roguelike genre! Those games where you die and lose all progress while being sent back to the beginning are the worst! I hated them in the 80's and i hate it now! Oh and the randomly generated levels thing is lazy indeed!
If this is not one of those I'll consider it!
Too much gba graphics games on switch
The character art looked good, then I saw the in game art style and it looks terrible. Not interested and getting sick of all the “retro” 2D metroidvania, rougelikes, ect.
great Celeste vibe
This seems a little too much like Celeste...
Looks neat! Looking forward to a review. :3
Some comments disparaging the pixel art style here (and, er, criticising roguelikes? I don’t like them either, but this seems like an odd place to beat that particular drum given that this game, y’know, isn’t). While I’m not the biggest fan, I also appreciate that indie developers have to pick and choose where to exercise their more limited budgets. Hopefully less spent on art = more spent on gameplay and level design? Might be a worthwhile trade-off.
My concern is that the main character looks a little... lightweight. Despite it using an art style similar to Celeste, Madeline felt great to control and had a real weight to her, and I can’t see the same in the trailer. I’m curious about that review.
I still don't get this art style. I've seen it any way too many games. I've nothing at all against 2D pixel games, but this is all so ugly. I don't get why you make a game with ugly art.
@FantasiaWHT Because it's quick. It takes a lot less to design a simple sprite than it is to animate a full 3D character. And time = money.
@Ultrasmiles as if it's not on steam as well.
Ugh... the 'art'style is an incredible turn-off. Even though I like the roguelike genre itself.
Is it just me, or do some of the graphics look like they don't really mesh well? Like, yeah it's comparable to Celeste as already stated, but everything in Celeste blended together incredibly well which I don't really feel here.
@sanderev You might notice I wasn't comparing it to 3D graphics. 2D graphics can be gorgeous. I'm not going to pay a developer who thinks I should look at ugly 2D art for hours on end.
As per the first comment I made on this article, I want this, but only if physical
Looks gd to me will go on the wishlist but am now saving my cash on purchases TIL Nintendo reveals its big guns for rest of year xx
Game: Called Ageless
Also Game: Has GBA Style Graphics
Me: ha ha meme go template
Unlike many on this site, I’m a huge fan of pixel art. But even I have to admit that the art here really isn’t rocking my boat either I’m afraid. Still, gameplay maketh the game!
My type of game... but lots already in queue and already purchased.
The style is a bit simplistic, like Celeste (why no faces, I hate that). But the game looks mighty interesting!
