We have guides to pretty much everything you could ever possibly need to know about Animal Crossing: New Horizons here on Nintendo Life, but if you're looking for something to keep as a PDF, Nintendo has its own, streamlined option available to download.
Accessible from the North American My Nintendo website (simply sign up for a North American account with a new email address if you live elsewhere), the guide contains tips on basic controls, choosing your island, and info on the NookPhone's apps. It's designed for beginners and can be obtained for just 75 Platinum Points.
It's actually a sample of an official, 432-page guide made by Future Press. Called the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Official Companion Guide, this full book naturally contains plenty more information on the game, and looks rather lovely to boot.
Please note that some external links on this page are affiliate links, which means if you click them and make a purchase we may receive a small percentage of the sale. Please read our FTC Disclosure for more information.
If you're just getting started or know who a friend who'll be jumping into the series for the first time, why not start with a copy of the free guide? Hopefully it'll help newcomers to get the most out of those confusing early moments!

No because who needs one
I ordered this on amazon 3 months ago and I am still waiting to get the printed version...
I need an AC Quitting Guide to break my AC addiction.
FYI: This download is just the first 25 pages of a 500-page book.
I need this book, it's so pretty.
Sounds like an advertisement.
I order this book thru Amazon on March. Will probably received it sometime in July. But I don't mind waiting cos I order it for collection not for the guide.
Guess they kinda fudged that book, eh?
Unless it tells me how to get Redd to show - it's been exactly 1 month - not interested.
It’s 25 pages long
It would be nice if you could actually, you know, buy it.
Been sitting on an amazon preorder for a physical copy since early April lmao
It's kinda absurd that this excerpt of a book costs any points at all. It's a digital copy too, so what could it cost Nintendo to let interested users download it for free?
@rjejr I would gladly swap Redd and Sahara’s schedules. Let Redd visit weekly and put Sahara on the rando list.
@mlj11 Isn't the silver coins kinda free to collect? I get some weekly login to My Nintendo account. I just login and got 30 silver.
@UnknownReader I'm not sure about that - you may be right. However my main issue wasn't about the dollar value of the download, but rather the fact that Nintendo even requries something in exchange for it at all. I mean we live in an age when it's standard practice for digital book retailers like Kindle and Google Play to allow users to download samples of all their digital books without having to give up anything.
I'm already not estatic about Nintendo charging premium prices for their mobile apps like Mario Kart Tour or the fact that I have to pay a "Nintendo tax" for ports on the Switch. Does Nintendo really need to appear so greedy when it comes to digital book samples too?
@RidzDesign Me too. Even contact Amazon to find out what they were going to do about their pre-order guarantee. Their response was the guarantee guarantees you'll get what you pre-ordered, but not when.
@mlj11 I guess it give people a reason to redeem/ use those coins? I collect so many ( I think they even give you some on your birthday ) hardly ever use them. Not sure about silver, but gold expired yearly so we have to use them in some way. Unlike Club Nintendo ( I think the points last for 2 years? ), we collect to redeem physical goods on a certain month ( don't recall which month. But I miss that program so much ) so it's worth saving up those point, now... not so for us western. Japan get to use them for physical goods, I think.
@UnknownReader Haha Japan always gets the good Nintendo stuff!
I think I am well past the starter guide period lol
I’m not a starter, so no!
@Tandy255 Sahara, like KK on Saturdays on Daisy Mae on Sunday, really does seem to show up every single week w/o fail. And I never buy anything b/c it's blind loot boxes. What kind of person buys a rug w/o seeing it first, blind people? CJ and Flick showed up on back-to-back days again this week, same as the last time they appeared 2 or 3 weeks ago. Redd hasn't visited in over a month, I play an hour or 2 every single day. Sometimes I think people at Nintendo really suck at their jobs.
