In case you've forgotten, it allows you to scan in custom design QR Code patterns from the previous games Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer. In addition to this, you can also communicate (via text and voice chat) with your friends and family who also have the app.
Here are the steps to connect the app with New Horizons on Switch:

This new Animal Crossing service for the Nintendo Switch Online mobile application joins existing games like Splatoon 2 and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Will you be making use of it? Tell us below.

YES! THIS IS WHY I HELD ON TO YOU.
Should i use my smartphone to scan QR code patterns ?
Splatoon 2 app is now missing for me
@S20TEW Still there on my end.
@Liam_Doolan it’s my stupidity I was scrolling up and down and not left to right, the icons on my phone are a tad big only 2 fit so tried to scroll down to nothing and it was to the right. I just went to panic mode it’s to early and lack of sleep , that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it lol
Sorry for the stupidity and any bother caused
Some of my designs were from an earlier town on New Leaf so I can’t make em in to QR code’s now. C’est la vie.
So you’re saying with this new phone technology I can communicate with friends and family. Who knew? Nintendo ahead of the curve once again!
@beazlen1 Imagine this app and the game would be all we have right now. Imagine doing online business as animal crossing characters meeting on each other's islands... what a world!
I hope someone reverse-engineers the pattern codes so we can edit patterns on a computer or something and scan them in from there.
