Amazing sales. Enter the Gungeon, Hotline Miami, Minit, and The Messenger and must-haves.
The messenger is probably the one that interests me the most.
Got most of those, Devolver is awesome! Still need to get Red String, Crossing Souls, and Pedro. Got plenty of crazy action on my plate currently, so debating on picking up Red and Cross
I recommend:
Ape Out
Enter the Gungeon
Gato Roboto
Gris
Hotline Miami
Katana Zero
My Friend Pedro
The Messenger
@jamesthemagi Minit is also very good. Very solid “mini Zelda” experience.
Have all the ones I need on Switch/Vita/ipad. Phew!
Tempted by the messenger or katana zero.
Which one wins?
@Kalmaro The messenger is incredible. Definitely worth it
@Gravitron a good friend of mind suggests it too and has been after me to try it, haha.
Katana Zero should get a limited physical run
Thanks damien
@Mrd8202 Both? Both! Lol,m. But seriously either way is good. Messenger probably just eeks out overall though.
I highly recommend Broforce, especially at that price, though I think it's worth the full price as well. Amazingly fun and responsive side-scrolling shooter with very diverse characters that are a joy to play with. The destructible environment is great too. ^^
I personally recommend Downwell, it's a great little game for a crazy-cheap price!
Buy downwell, you have no excuse
I decided to pick up Enter the Gungeon. I’ve been wanting to for a long time now. Hopefully, it’s as fun as I’m expecting it to be.
Katana Zero is a must play.
Downwell is super fun mini game
Enter the Gungeon is my most played switch game (200+ hours, beating out Zelda and Issac among others)
Devolver RULES.
There’s some fabulous deals there, make no mistake, but save for Crossing Souls and I Hate Running Backwards, I own all the others already – including those not listed, such as The Talos Principal. Unfortunately however, I don’t much fancy either of those two 😔
However, for Nindie fans with a gap in their Devolver collection – and taking into account their respective discounts – I’d recommend grabbing Ape Out, Enter the Gungeon, GRIS, Hotline Miami Collection, Katana Zero and The Messenger in particular. Well, what are you waiting for? Grab 'em while they’re hot, folks!
Looks like I haven't appreciated Devolver enough. I have like 2/3 of these games and at worst, I've really liked all of them. At best (Ape Out, Hotline Miami, Katana Zero, The Messenger) I love them. Joining the ranks of WayForward for me.
Guess at that price, it's time for me to try The Messenger.
Katana is so good
Broforce ftw!! If you lived through the 80s and watched movies like Commando, Rambo etc then its a really great game, theres just so many cool characters. It's by far the biggest discount on the list too.
Hot dang!
The Messenger, Katana Zero and Mother Russia Bleeds are my holy trinity. Ape Out is ridiculously addictive free jazz as a video game. Gato Roboto is one of the best Metroid style games ever. I had a blast with Broforce. Gris is gorgeous. Red String Club is vibey and the only game of it’s genre I ever played through. Pikuniku is light and fun. Downwell is what it says it is on the box. My Friend Pedro isn’t great but it is great fun.
@Mrd8202
BOTH
Oh seems to be US only. Why no mention of that in the article?
@Ogbert Because then they would get fewer clicks. They don't care about Europeans most of the time.
Think I understand why you don't, but it'd be great if you could put the region on the front page description please - save me getting my hopes up!
@Ogbert Well, they kind of did: the prices are in dollars, after all...
How many can play local co-op on ETG?
I picked up both The Messanger and Katana during the big black Friday sale. Thinking about ETG.
Oh sweet violence, can't recommend Hotline Miami enough!
@Dm9982 @jamesthemagi Mormo's Curse is Zelda like. Link's Awakening style. It's Roguelite but you csn survive and smash through pretty much everything without any trouble if you're careful and level a bit.
@Ogbert Yeah, it's a bit of a joke considering the SAME sale was US only in November. Devolver are screwing Europe over rly. However, you can just sign in with a US account and grab a $$$$ eShop card from the net. Because dollars are worth less you actually get a better deal, but it's hassle.
@The_Pixel_King I personally e joyed Crossing Souls a lot. It has a good, if a little clichè story about secret military projects and the realm of the dead. The gameplay is fun, mixes in bullet hell a little and a bike sequence where you avoid obstacles, the bulk is a beat em up top down with bosses but also has a classic Streets of Rage inspired part. Some platforming is also required. Generally, the end (last 20 or so minutes) got a tad stale for me but right up until then I enjoyed it.
I personally recommend:
Katana Zero
Crossing Souls
The Sword of Ditto Mormo's Curse
Go check some YT reviews if you haven't yet seen much from them, but I put a decent amount of hours into all of them and those prices are well worth it.
@ThanosReXXX well they didn’t say in the title like they usually do, if they forgot to do that who’s to say they didn’t forget to add European prices to the article too?
@Jayofmaya I’m not fussed about Devolver’s decision of what regions to hold the sale in. I’m sure they have their reasons and they did include a lot of their titles in the recent EU Christmas sale.
More wish NintendoLife had included the info in their article, preferably the title, like they usually do when it’s an EU only sale.
@Ogbert Well, seeing as there are actually mentions of prices instead of completely forgetting or omitting them, in that case it would have been "mistakenly adding US prices instead of EU prices"...
@Jayofmaya yeah I’ve had Ditto since it launched on Switch, just haven’t played yet.
I mean honestly, you can’t go wrong with a Devolver game. You can just go good, or better.
Gungeon is my most played of em. Bunch of fun there, and challenging. Much much more so than Isaac. So it’s not the easiest game. But it is a lot of fun.
@ThanosReXXX because a sale can’t be in two regions....
@Ogbert No, not because of that. Just saying that regardless of the info not being mentioned in the title, it seemed pretty clear (well, to me at least) that we were talking US region discounts here. Why else would there only be prices in dollars.
@ThanosReXXX as i said they forgot to mention in the title that it's US only like they usually mention. So they could have easily just forgotten to add other region prices too, which they have also done in the past. But it turns out that was not the case this time, they just forgot to add it to the title.
@Ogbert I already got that from your original comment. All I was saying though, is that there didn't have to be any confusion as to for which region these discounts were, considering that the prices are mentioned in dollars, so yes, they forgot to explicitly mention that in the title, but one could still figure out for which region it was, simply by looking at the prices/currencies mentioned.
@ThanosReXXX You could figure out one of the regions for sure. There was no way to tell if it actually was just one region and mistake A had been made or in fact multiple reasons and mistake B had been made. Making an assumption that turned out to be correct is not the same as there being no confusion. Either way there was a mistake so nothing was a given and I'm not just going to assume one way and potentially miss a bargain all for the sake of double checking something.
@Ogbert Although of late, there's a slight increase of articles where you might expect/suspect writers to make mistakes or leave things out, I tend to give them the benefit of the doubt in simpler articles like these, where it's basically copy/pasting of existing numbers/prices, but fair enough. Let's put an end to this. It was clear for me, not for you or not entirely, and that's your opinion and that's perfectly fine.
