The latest indie game to get a physical release on Nintendo Switch is The Gardens Between, and pre-orders are going live later this week.
Originally confirmed a few months back, this partnership sees Super Rare Games releasing The Voxel Agent's chilled out puzzler in both standard and collector's editions. There will only be 5,000 units available in total, 2,000 of which will be collector's editions.
The standard edition will cost you £30, with the collector's release having a £66 asking price. Here's what you get for the extra cash:
- 64 page hardback artbook showing the journey from initial concepts to the release of the game
- A3 Poster
- 2 exclusive pins
- Water tattoo of the games logo
- Papercraft of the jumper (character in the game)
- CD soundtrack
Pre-orders go live on 28th November at 6pm BST. If you want to know more about this one before making up your mind, feel free to check out our full review - we'll leave a snippet for you below.
Relaxing as it is taxing, The Gardens Between offers a poignant coalescence of charming visuals, a relaxing soundtrack and a bittersweet story. The simplicity of its control scheme hides an incredibly clever and frighteningly intricate puzzle formula that sees you rewinding and playing time like an omnipresent director. Its unique setup makes it one of the most unusual puzzlers on Nintendo Switch.

This is one I've been looking forward to, so I'll be grabbing a copy.
Odd, this is the first I've heard of this game. I'll have to check it out.
I'll be ordering the 3 pack of games as always to keep my Super Rare Games collection complete.
Looks like it would be a chill game but not interestered.
This is part of PC Game Pass, if anyone just wants to check it out (Probably runs on just about any recent laptop)
They getting tons of Indies.
I was really blown away by this one. And sticks with you long after the credits roll.
It's a pretty short game but definitely worth playing. If you can find it at a good price, go for it!
I enjoyed this game, but it’s very short - the kind of game that makes complete sense as digital only.
So why make an overpriced physical edition? It’s not a big game so it doesn’t take much memory to download. Are there that many Switch gamers without internet connections? Or has the cult of physical got out of control? Genuinely baffled.
so what time is that in NYC? 1pm?
Hopefully I can get the LE edition....
@Flowerlark you should do a YouTube review with gaming showing this then.
@PeteyO FYI, internet isn't cheap nor do they give you options of what you want to have but what they want you to have. So let's be clear on this Fact you don't choose your ISP or ISP Subscription. Physical is the reason why if you don't have internet you get to choose how you play and what you play and need no internet connections to download to play. One ought to really think things through before posting nonsensical rants.
@SwitchForce What a mature way of making your point.
TGB is 1.7GB to download - that’s not a long download even on a slow connection, and certainly not £30 worth!
Downloadable gaming has allowed a number of games to be released that just wouldn’t be economical otherwise.
“Fact you don't choose your ISP or ISP Subscription.”
I’m sorry, what?
@PeteyO “Fact you don't choose your ISP or ISP Subscription.”
If you don't live in USA then you don't understand that meaning. Having to download the game puts a premium on microSD space. I leave that for updates and DLC downloads only.
