Famitsu's Japanese chart figures are now in for 3rd - 9th June, revealing that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has been booted off top spot.
That particular honour goes to newcomer Rage 2 this time around, which sold an estimated 12,146 copies to get there. Another PS4 title, Everybody's Golf VR is the only other newcomer, with the rest of the chart being relatively quiet compared to weeks gone by.

Not good.
Need MOAR Switch games !!
It's honestly not all that surprising. I think Smash has had a heck of a time up there in the VIP spot, lol Maybe it's time someone else got to try it out. Rage 2 is a pretty awesome game. Who knows though. It could be back in the top spot again next time.
Haha Switch is still selling and man they really do not like Xbox lol but compared to last time now Sony has 3 games on there but I'm happy that Switch games are still the majority. It's nice that Nintendo is no longer in last place and is once again dominating, I was always hoping for a huge comeback and it was sad but also would piss me off when people would put down Nintendo bad. Now the tables have turned 😁
Yet another slow week.
So the Japanese are picking up PS4 again I see, seems like the Final Fantasy VII remake trailer and release date did its job.
Damn. Smash sold a lot.
Wondering what VR plans Nintendo have going 4ward cos that's a thing now...Sony will look 2 deliver an even bigger body blow in that arena when PS5 rolls around...
Wow, PS4 almost knocked the Switch out!
The chart does confirm what some YouTube commenters had said, "Sony won E3 2019 and they weren't even there." The Final Fantasy VII remake alone would entice more people to buy PS4 again.
Ouch... and still awful numbers.
They hit the worst sales numbers in Japan in the last 20 years a few weeks back. Wonder where we at now 🤔
@Sim1 All I am waiting for is PS5 to jump into PSVR.
I have a launch year PS4 so not even trying to play VR on it (needs to last till Death Standing)
I Almost cracked and got it when ACE Combat 7 and Blood and Truth came out.
@retro_player_22 Interesting. I feel Nintendo had a great E3. Really feels like the Switch is a maturing platform now, and the games are coming thick and fast in a really wide range of genres. Not sure how Sony won that one in anyone’s eyes. Next year, however, against all the next-gen stuff, Nintendo will really have its work cut out to make an impact. The Switch software is going to look like 3DS titles. Not that I care - I still love the 3DS even now - but the mass market will shrug and move on.
@retro_player_22 there was a PS4 sale this week (days of play), that's why the numbers are higher this week
So what? Soon Dragon Quest will put Smash Ultimate on the top again.
It will probably happen even before the Hero DLC is launched.
Banjo-kazooie will also put smash back on top.
Rage 2 being a new game didn't sell that much better than a game that launched like half a year ago. And Smash is gonna stay on the top 10 list for months or even years to come. Rage 2 will be long gone by then.
@manu0 I don't think the sale had much to do with it. Otherwise there would be more PS4 games in the top 10.
As for the topic at hand, these are still terrible numbers no matter how you look at it. 3 weeks now and only 1 game has so far been able to break 10k. Hopefully sales for games go strong next week.
@Agramonte Oof, hope your console's alright.
BREAKING NEWS: Switch continues to succeed in Japan. In other news, water is wet.
@retro_player_22
The chart is not for next week. It's for last week (as in, the week before E3). You must be aware of this, right?
@Judal27 no I mean there was a sale on PS4 systems
@Agramonte Definitely, VR is a thing and it's gonna get bigger, Sony have been working on retina tracking amongst other things, it all makes sense as the games industry have always headed down the "reality" "simulation" road and the immersive experience that VR delivers can't b matched. Start saving now hey...
