Launching today on Nintendo Switch is Blazing Beaks, a twin-stick shooter from QubicGames. As you can see from the launch trailer above, this one looks pretty quackers (sorry).
Featuring both a story mode and a multiplayer tournament mode, Blazing Beaks has players blasting their way through randomly generated levels whacking pretty much everything in their path. The story mode can be played alone or in co-op, with levels "bursting with secrets" and mysteries to uncover. This lengthy feature list should give you a better sense of just what's going on:
BLAZING BEAKS – MAIN FEATURES:
• Enjoy a thrilling plot, either alone or with a buddy, in Story mode. Become part of an explosive adventure set in charming and surprising levels. Shoot, blast, zap, and disintegrate your way through creepy creatures, solo or in co-op!
• Compete with up to four of your friends in Tournament mode and find out who’s The King on a battlefield fueled with mad rules for lively get-togethers;
• Discover cool weapons and abilities, but beware of the powerful artifacts – you will be tempted to grab them, but they will make you suffer;
• Choose from eight completely different playable bird characters. Each has its own unique abilities, so pick one that matches your playthrough style best;
• Dig into details by reading all about the particularities and statistics of the characters, items, enemies, and abilities you discovered;
• Play. Die. Repeat! Randomly generated levels and loot drops make every playthrough different. A special “Seeded” mode also allows you to restart an adventure with identical settings if you so wish.
The game is available as we speak for $14.99 / £13.49, although owners of previous QubicGames titles (almost all of them qualify) will net you 50% if you pick it up before 2nd June.
What do you think? Will you be downloading this one today? Let us know in the usual place.

I bought Not Not when it was on sale just to qualify for the 50% off but I'm still just gonna watch list this for the time being.
Picked it up for the 50%, quite sure I'll enjoy this title anyway. The early discount convinced me to go for it.
So now we have the Duck Game and now this. My summer will be all quacked up.
What are some other games that Qubic makes? Do I own any?!?
I hope it's got a duck and cover mechanic. Otherwise this will be one tough nut to quack.
@Brumblescope just did some hunting and found Mana Spark by Qubicgames (was on my wishlist) is on sale for $1.99.
@Brumblescope Mana Spark is pretty legit and I give them props for a recent update that fixes most major complaints with the game. Devs who listen kick ass.
I love birds and twin sticks, hopefully this doesnt turn out to be fowl. Dont want to egret picking it up.
@brunojenso
You're driving my ducking insane with these puns
@MysticGengar No worries, I'm all pun now. There not punny anymore
@Brumblescope Yeah, I’ve got Mana Spark, too. Can’t wait to dive into this one though. It looks like a combo of Nuclear Throne and something like Forager or iOS roguelike, Trigger Heroes (it’s free, try it).
@Bombdotorg999 Agreed, man! For me, Qubic are one of the most underrated Switch devs! They do some incredible sales, too
I prefer Mighty Ducks and tasty chicken.
@The_Pixel_King It definitely has a nuclear throne vibe. I love Enter the Gungeon and Wizard of Legend so I'm hopeful for Blazing Beaks. Glad to hear Mana Spark is good. It caught my eye intially and then I forgot about it. Thanks for the rec's!
@Fake-E-Lee Excellent! I havent actually purchased BB yet, but after hearing so many positive things I think I'll bite the bullet! 🤣
So far so good , hopefully they add free updates but one can wish
This was an AMAZING find. I knew by the look of it that I would love it... and I do! The pixel art is spot on and the game keeps pushing me in. It surely doesn't have either EtG's depth or NT's adrenalinic gunplay but it's big fun so far. I like the cute-sy characters you can unlock!
Is it only my system, but why can’t I play with the Joy-Con attached? It insists that I detach my Joy-Con before it let’s me play. There shouldn’t be any issues with my system or the controllers since they work attached in the OS and in every other games. It makes portable play very inconvenient.
EDIT: LMAO, I didn’t think to try and press the A-button on the pairing screen. It made the game accept the attached Joy-Con and then everything worked fine.
