Nintendo has shared a list of the top 30 best-selling games on the Nintendo eShop for April. Alongside the big names you'd expect to see, we also have a fair number of indies and third-party releases.
The list has been posted on the Nintendo Switch news channel, distributed specifically to users in North America. It notes that the ranking is "based on Nintendo eShop unit sales", which includes games of all prices (even if they're free to download) but discounts demos.
Let's take a look at the full list, shall we?

2. Fortnite
3. Cuphead

Where is the "Baba Is You" Review?
Breath of the Wild and Rocket League surprise me. Not that they aren't worthy of sales but at their age as Switch games and the amount of new content being available, I'm shocked they did so well in April
Good to see that triple party AAAs sold well (MK11)
I don't understand the point of these lists.
Some games get in there just because they are on offer. Some of those never would have otherwise.
I remember a terrible game hitting the top 10 monthly sales, just because it had a 90% discount, making it basically free.
They should at least phrase it as most downloaded games rather than 'best-selling' if they're going to include free games on the list. Or even better, exclude them altogether like the demos.
Dyamite Fishing!!
I wonder if Dragons Dogma's 18th place is enough to warrant a DMC5 port.
@CaPPa 18th doesn't sound particularly high (although it did release fairly late in the month I suppose) but considering it had a physical release in NA, it's not so surprising if it doesn't do all that well digitally. Especially when the game takes up 12GB of space to download.
BotW #4 and above Mariokart? And Mario Odyssey isn't on the list??? What is going on?
Cuphead is #1 in Japan, but I suspect that's an effect of few people playing on MS platforms. It's a little lower here likely because people have already played it elsewhere.
Mine is still Portal Knights as number 1. 😎
@CaPPa Dragons Dogma hit number two in the European eShop which I thought was pretty impressive. Mortal Kombat 11 has also placed well in the European eShop which I was pleased to see.
Go Cuphead! It's a good day for a swell battle!
Super Mario Odyssey's not on the list.
While I'm not surprised to see FF VII and FF X so high, what about FF IX? Some seem to think that one is high quality as well. XII not charting makes sense due to when it released.
does some media release any real sale numbers, just to see like how well something like Cuphead or MK11 has sold on switch
Surprised Fortnite was actually knocked off first.
Dynamite Fishing? Do you get to use dynamite to fish with in the game? That would be awesome.
Heheheh, of course Dynamite Fishing got in the 30th place since it went for 10 Cents in the Eshop XD.
Dynamite Fishing? Really?!
Still a bit surprised about Overcooked and Human Fall Flat hanging in there!
This system really does appeal to players of all sorts of games.
