UK retailer Zavvi has today launched a new fully licensed video game clothing range titled "Original Hero" which has been inspired by "fusing" the familiar Super Mario line art visuals with the "bold, exciting features of Tokyo streetwear" and developed with Nintendo.
Unlike most video game merch, the style is somewhat muted using a completely monochromatic style mixed with either low or high contrast.
The 16-piece range is made up of t-shirts, long sleeves, sweats, and hoodies featuring characters and enemies from the world of Super Mario, including Bowser, Goomba, Piranha Plant and of course, Mario himself.
Products will be on sale beginning right now, and will only be available for one week, or until sold out. We suggest you move fast and order to avoid disappointment.

It looks nice.
But i prefer Colorful rather than Monochrome style.
@Anti-Matter I like monochrome, my personality brings the colour
Now those look cool, Doug Bowsers suit however does not.....
Are these fully licensed and official??? I have bought and sent back a few thing from zavvi that were Ninty and they were fake
@NintyNate yep, they are official/licensed. I'll update the article to make that clear.
The irony is, the more Japanese you write on something the less it looks like actual Tokyo streetwear, which takes most of its visual cues from Western fashion and then... goes off on its own very unique tangents.
It’s not so much the case as it was 5 or so years ago, but you’re still much more likely to find a piece of superbly garbled English adorning the front of most bona-fide Tokyo ‘streetwear’ than any actual Japanese.
@antdickens you 1000000% sure lol
They look nice but always worried.... Got those Metroid mugs and shirt and after one wash the mugs were ruined plus the came in the most crap paper packing no box, and the shirt fell apart after one wash
Lovely stuff but a little expensive plus i already have a ton of Nintendo tshirts in my wardrobe (close to 30 between official and qwertee designs haha). If the long sleeve tops were cheaper i'd have gotten them as i only have plain long tops and one green mushroom jumper. Still looks great though!
@NintyNate yep, 1000000% sure, this has been confirmed by Zavvi themselves.
Article should be updated to include the backs of some of about a third of the items because some have good back designs. The Mario white t-shirt looks particularly good because it has Mario from behind and knocking and so it's as if Mario is poking his head through your body!
They're way overpriced though for my wallet's taste. More than double the price they should be. I'll wait for a sale and for reviews to check quality.
@NintyNate Just because they're licensed it doesn't mean they're quality. I bought a DK t-shirt from Zavvi last year. I'm not doubting it's legitimacy, but the material is so thin it's nearly see-through.
Zavvi tend to put Nintendo merch on sale fairly often, and even at the sale prices I'm not sure I'll bother trying another one.
It really annoys me how ピーチ姫 is weirdly turned 90 degrees on the hoodie... Actually I would like the Peach design the best, but it just looks sloppy this way.
Also, what's up with the writing on the metal posters? Mario has "Super Mario" on it, Bowser has "Great Demon King", and Peach has "Mushroom Kingdom". I just don't get it.
I still want to figure out how I can buy those pokemon dress shirts
