It appears the Brazilian-based developer Aquiris is moving forward with a Horizon Chase Turbo physical release after a listing for the title has been spotted on the Entertainment Software Rating Board in the US. The Switch and PlayStation 4 hard copy will be published by PM Studios, which is known for previous physical releases such as Superbeat: Xonic and MUSYNX.
Horizon Chase started out life as a mobile release and was eventually ported across to multiple video game consoles including the Nintendo Switch. The game draws inspiration from classic racing titles such as Top Gear and borrows a colourful palette from Sega's Out Run series.

god freakin AUGHHH
I'm just gonna stop buying eshop games
This game is an absolute blast! Even the mobile version is good. A solid title for sure
Sweeeeeeet. I held off on this title!
Now I'm tempted even more for the physicsl release.
ill double dip if true
I love this game. It's brilliant and up there with the best racing games. I don't see any reason to double-dip by buying physical on top of digital in this case especially as (I think) I got the digital in sale. It's so well made it's worth full price to those who like racing games. I'm glad it's getting physical as even though I'm not wild about the likely cover art, it will introduce the game to new Switch owners and would be excellent included in console bundles. Excellent move and testament to its deserved Switch success! Well done everyone!
@Charlie_Girl I stopped buying eShop back in October. I feel your pain brother! 😊
I enjoy the game but find it a tad overated. I'm not a fan of the way the car handles, it almost sticks to the road and you rarely have to take your finger off the accelerator. That would be fine if you could drift but you can't. They really need to fix the frame jumps as well, they're frequent enough to be off putting.
This is a great game, for anyone who hasn't played it yet. I recommend.
@Charlie_Girl Yea I've actually stopped a while ago and I'm solely buying physical. Not to sound hoity toity or anything just that I've been burned so many times buying a game on the eshop then a few months later it gets a physical release...which is what I wanted in the first friggin place! You might have to wait a little bit but it's all worth it to actually own that awesomeness
I feel the burn, I bought this digital already too.
Ah yes! This game seems so good. Classic music too, from the guy that did lotus challenge or outrun as well I think. This will be a definite along with so many great games immortalised on cartridge!
@OorWullie in this Reddit AMA the team at Aquiris said a patch was on the way in January / February, so hopefully not too much longer now. Great game though. Performance is generally so good, and the game is so freakin fun that it's only a minor annoyance to me. https://www.reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/comments/a5wh2a/we_are_aquiris_developed_horizon_chase_turbo_with/
@gungho_trucker That's good to know. I forgot about the game crashes. I'll hang off on playing it again until the patch arrives. I've made it to UAE in career mode. The amount of content in the game is impressive.
@OorWullie I've had it about a month and it's never crashed on me. I play it mostly hand-held and performance is generally fantastic - just the very occasional frame jump like you say. It really does take me back though, I've enjoyed the game so much.
I have the PS4 digital and the mobile version. A physical one will be the perfect excuse to buy it on switch.
Unfortunately it doesn't surprise me. Almost every digital game with some success gets eventually released physically too.
this game is Perfection
@Schizor88 I'm a woman.
my screen name literally has the word girl in it.
why would you call me "brother"?
what is wrong with you?
@OorWullie yep it’s a great game, the art style and sense of speed are great, it captures that retro Top Gear vibe and improves on it. Love the Cable Guy car.
Weird, doesn't seem the kind of game that needs a physical release but everyone seems happy to fair enough, hope they get some good sales from it. I haven't picked it up yet but will almost certainly get the digital version.
Good for those who want it. I paid £11 for the digital version on sale and the physical is bound to be significantly more so no interest personally. Really fun game though.
This is actually my game of the year 2018. Maybe tied with Celeste.
I was sooo on the brink of buying this on eshop. If I wasn't deep in other games, I would have bought it already. But now, I think I will wait for the physical.
@Charlie_Girl maybe he just saw the first name? Any reason to attack him over it? It’s pretty easy to read something quick and you interrupt it incorrectly.
Glad I held out for the physical release.
Yes stunning game indeed:)
@TadGhostal I've decided awhile ago to only focus on physical games, until in the console's later years. Eshop games will be there, until the console's online support is cut off 5+ years after the console is essentially replaced. But the 3rd party physical games often stop production a few years in, unless they're real big hitters.
Stuff like this doesn't help either, of course. I was close to picking up Shovel Knight for awhile, but I felt vindicated the moment they announced a physical version. Lol
@DTMOF84 "attack."
lol
Damn!! Now that is some good news!!
@Charlie_Girl haha. My bad. Didn't really use my time reading your name. #funny
Lessee, I've been burned twice now, and I did have this on my backlog, so good, another victory for me. I guess I should really stop complaining about my large backlog lol — If a game is good enough, the trend seems to be it will get a physical release. Guess I'll continue to wait for games like The Messenger then...
@CurryPowderKeg79 that's one way to save money for a new backlog! I've been there.
If the save file transfers over, I would consider re-buying. It is that good.
Well deserved. Awesome racer.
