Indie developer Serenity Forge has confirmed that its first title on Nintendo Switch - Lifeless Planet: Premiere Edition - will be arriving on the console next week.
The game is a third-person action-adventure that features an old-school sci-fi story full of mystery and intrigue (the trailer above is fittingly gripping). While seeking life on a distant planet, an astronaut discovers an abandoned Russian town. At first, the astronaut suspects that the whole mission is a hoax; that is until a mysterious young woman saves him from a strange and deadly phenomenon.
After a hard landing on the planet, the astronaut discovers that, rather than being rich with life as originally suggested, it is instead a barren wasteland. He soon discovers evidence that humans have already been to this planet years ago, stumbling across that deserted Soviet-era Russian town in the process. Did his light-speed travel to the planet send him back in time? Or is this all some strange Cold War hoax? That's up to the player to find out.
Equipped with a limited-use jet-pack and a mobile robotic arm, you'll be using your wits and skill to solve puzzles, unravel the mystery, and survive the Lifeless Planet. If you want to see a little more from the game, feast your eyes on this selection of screenshots below.
Lifeless Planet: Premiere Edition launches on Switch on 6th September. The game is currently available for pre-purchase with a 25% discount on the Switch eShop in North America - this option will also be available in Europe from tomorrow.

The trailer has me intrigued for sure and I like the premise. I’ll wait for reviews. Mind, if it has Ultimate’s Jet Pack as an Easter egg, it’s day one
Hmm, it looks interesting, might purchase after the reviews!
Why do people act like this is a new game?
Unless they added sth new, It's the same 4 year old mediocre game on pc and ps4.
Sounds right up my alley.
@subpopz
I see what you mean, but if you check the general reviews on youtube for pc and ps4, you will be less excited abt it.
@Varkster
I don't mind developpers "dumping" their games on the Switch as long as they are priced accordingly (they're mostly not, BTW). And while I haven't read the reviews, I admit that from time to time, I happen to like games that gets criticized by many, and sometimes hate games that are almost universally admitted as being awesome. So I cannot say such game shouldn't be made or ported to a platform because it got bad reviews.
Like I mentionned, my main issue is the trend to charge full price for games that were released often YEARS ago on other platforms. Sure, porting costs some money, but all (or most) game assets, art direction, music, etc... has been done already. The price should reflect that. Right now, most indie games on Switch cost more than they would on every other platform (at least in Canada, they do), making the Switch, all current consoles considered, the most expensive platform to play on.
@Realnoize which is why I wait for sales on most games now. There are so many games to play that release dates mean almost nothing to me. Yes, I’ll get smash, or dark souls day 1, but random eshop indies, sorry, but most I end up waiting for sale on them. Like you said, lots of these games are old ports, good or bad, they still ports. And if that’s how devs are going to treat me, then right back at them.
Don’t you think this game looks a bit... lifeless? ba dum chh
@Hikingguy yes, that’s has been driving me crazy this gen too. To many indies are basically tricking us into buying digital at launch, then a month later, announce a physical one. But too many people (double, triple, or more)-dip and don’t think anything of it. It’s bad enough that I need to buy 3 copies of dark souls, 1 for myself and 2 for my boys. Same for smash and many others. We do share games like botw or odyssey since they are single player.
This game is boring and has very little going for it. Do not waste your time or money.
@hakjie11
Yup, and Xbone. Mediocrity is its middle name and even then that might be too flattering.
@Agent721 - Thanks for the heads up. I’ve watched the trailer a few times in the eShop and couldn’t decide if it looks lifeless, yet intriguing, or lifeless and boring. The premise is pretty cool.
@bimmy-lee
I was very much looking forward to it. I played it at least 5 hours and found myself real bored with the lack of things to do. I also got stuck in a jumping section, which made no sense as it’s not that type of game at all. I enjoy different sorts of games, like Journey or say Flower, but this one has no magic to speak of. Bland & boring.
@Agent721 - A little magic goes a long way with me, but I’ve consumed a lot of bad media searching for it. Cheers.
@hakjie11 I guess becuase it's new to them. I've never heard of this game before, I've never heard of a lot of these titles before they bring to Switch. I mean, Saints Row 3 is a new game to me, L.A Noire is new, and I'd played maybe 2 hours of Skyrim before Switch port.
The genre was interesting but the trailer looks boring to me. Waiting for the review
Death Stranding's Switch port looks pretty good.
The search for Hillary Clinton’s emails lol
This game is just incredible! it is now one of my all time favorites.I have played it handheld on the Switch and want to get right into it on my television next again.games do not have to a million menus and commands to be good. some platforming and discovery and a mood and atmosphere that is Awesome.If you like science fiction, mysteries or a relaxed adventure, a must! gotta get my hands on a physical version some day too!
