We already knew SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy contained suggestive themes, and now a new trailer highlighting the game’s story reaffirms this. It turns out the all-female cast of fighters have been kidnapped by a mysterious individual a few months after The King of Fighters tournament. Waking up in a mansion, the girls are now left with no option but to fight each other in order to battle their way to freedom - all while the unknown character watches from afar.
As questionable as the plot might be, this game still looks like a competent fighter. The cast of heroines can also be customised - with three unique costumes for each character, four different voice sets, and more than 140 items to accessorise with. A photo shoot feature allows players to take snaps of the fighters and then customise the pictures using special backgrounds and stamps.
Take a look at the trailer, and tell us if you will be adding SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy to your Switch library this September.

Thank goodness they finally kept the original costume in the game, maybe I will check this after all.
What's questionable about the bad guy being a bad guy? I always find it absurd when people whine about a villain/antagonist being bad.
Not every villain needs to be some sob story who just bad poor choices. There is nothing wrong with portraying evil characters as villains. That's kind of the idea.
@Heavyarms55
People just want to get outraged about everything these days, even if it's a little nothing. It's like those who freak out about how The Joker treats Harley Quinn terribly. I mean, duh? He is a villain afterall. Anyway, as far as this game, goes, I'd say don't like the content in the game then don't play it, that simple. But people need to get on their soapboxes and scream how this kind of stuff has an effect on the actions of people or whatever.
I don't think the story is more questionable then Nintendo's own games, its likely just an excuse for the setting.
Have the Diamond Dream edition preordered. The game looks amazing!
@KingdomHeartsFan Yeah... he's an antagonist. A bad dude. That's what they do. What is wrong with a bad dude in a fictional story doing bad things?
Saw this being played at Hyper Japan. It looked pretty decent in the flesh.
The one button special still kinda bugs me. I won’t lie though, I’m still getting this.
I think it’s obvious that the villain/kidnapper is the player. Maybe I will buy the game and try to be a villain for a change.
@KingdomHeartsFan
Yeah, and if people don't like that, fine. I just don't see why it has to be an issue. None of this nonsense has an effect on the real world and nobody is forced to play it. I really haven't been interested in the game from the start because it's going to have the typical SNK fighting gameplay (which I've never been a huge fan of compared to SF) and they're clearly selling it on t&a. That's another alarm for me. But I'm not going to act like the game should be banned or changed or whatever.
@KingdomHeartsFan Western critics of Japanese culture in my experience are typically grossly misinformed. 98% of them have never even been to Japan and at least 75% of them pay no head to significantly more glaring sexuality in western media. As a westerner who lives in Japan, I believe I can judge it a lot more clearly than someone who's opinion is based on watching anime and playing Japanese video games.
@KingdomHeartsFan so he's a pervert who captures and imprisons women for his own pleasure? Sounds like an original and intriguing plot device to me.
It's just like all those games where a bunch of men are captured and we get to dress them up and take photos of them from dubious angles.
Except the are no games like that and that's the problem. It does require you to think a little to understand the issue, and have empathy with people who are different from you.
Oh, it's Japanese cultural sexism!? That's totally different.
Yes, i am being sarcastic.
@Sabroni If you find the game problematic, how would it be less problematic if there were another game about kidnapping dudes and photograph them?
@tobibra
"how would it be less problematic if there were a game about kidnapping dudes and photograph them?"
I want Hunkalicious from Shirtless Handsome Muscular Six Pack guys.
If the girls can have their costumes and photoshoots, the guys should have too.
Being the Magic Emperor, I’ve had my share of abducting young women. But in my defense, I only made them sing. ... Except for one maiden. I kinda reawakened her true self, but made it look fanservicey. All right. Still! I did not make them fight each other, nor did I take photos. I assure you!
Controversial as it is, the story in this upcoming game is basically negligible to me. I’m far more curious about how it plays!
@tobibra It's about balance. I don't want to ban games like this, I enjoy them, but it's definitely sexist to not provide any eye candy for humans who like looking at sexy men instead of sexy women.
I know women. They like looking at hunky men. Why are there no fighting/photography games for them? Why doesn't the boob slider in xenoblade work to make the men's chests more muscular and sculpted?
Equal opportunities perving is all I'm asking for.
@Sabroni I can't answer why there is no similar titles about dudes, but as long as you don't want to ban these kinds of games, good. Because that was the feeling I got from your other posts.
@tobibra I just like people to think about things and appreciate other people's point of view. The story in this game is tired, it's doax but with the girls given even less agency.
Why not just have the girls in a fighting tournament? There's no need for the creepy perv story line.
I want to love this game.
I love the visual style.
But... is it just me, or are the in-game character animations kinda basic looking?
Well yeah, its the same plot as the comics used nearly two years ago.
I was going to get the $120 edition, but I realized all of that extra tat will just sit around and do nothing for me and the extra $70 nets me Blade Strangers, Shenmue 1&2 HD, and some pizza.
The plot of kidnapping these women and stealing their 'energy' sounds, to us westerners, horrible and disgusting. But taken at face value to the Japanese, that's literally the plot of the first arc of every (Power) Ranger/Hero/Transforming Magical Girl show ever! The ones they show to kids in their morning TV lineup before they go to school.
It's not meant to be taken seriously at all!
The plot of a fighting game has folks up in arms? Sigh. I can't wait to get this game.
I have my GameCube Arcade Stick ready!
I really hope they include Fio or Eri from Meta Slug.
@Heavyarms55 Everyone needs to be some misguided or infortunate individual to some (unless they believe in something you don’t then they are just nasty). I do miss villains who just want to be straight up comically evil.
Looks rather decent to be fair.
Yawn. It’s official, I will be passing on this one.
People asking for a man version of this game clearly have no idea about how the industry works. The majority of gamers are straight men, and they are the target audience for this game. That male version will not sell as well as this one, and it will bankrupt the developers. It costs money to make games, so you have to make games that appeal to a large audience. SJWs do not buy games or movies, so that's why media that appeals to them will always flop. A villain doing a villainous act is not something that people should complain about, so get over yourselves if you believe that it is.

"The majority of gamers are straight men, and they are the target audience for this game. That male version will not sell as well as this one, and it will bankrupt the developers."
Who said that ?
Gamers are NOT just straight men.
There are Female gamers who adore Hunky men (NDS & 3DS have Love Dating Sim games) & also.... LGBT gamers.
And don't forget there IS a Gay game (Yes, Men love Men game) on Nintendo Switch e-Shop that targeted for Gay gamers.
@Anti-Matter Simply by looking at GTA V sales, it is pretty obvious we're the majority. When's the last time the games you mentioned reached the top of the charts?
@penamiguel92
It doesn't have to be on Top of the charts.
At least the LGBT gamers or Whoever they are still can accept games like SNK Heroine but in Male version.
And don't forget the Female gamers are among us.
@Anti-Matter Okay, I never said they weren't.
@Anti-Matter Okay, I never said they weren't among us. Majority does not mean all...
@penamiguel92
One more thing.
Even on Mobile, the Gay games or the games that targeted for Female gamers are increased in numbers.
Gamers are dominated by males, but there are some developers also want to provide games for Female gamers and LGBT communities.
So, games for Females are Not always Hunky Shirtless men / Charming Boys Date Simulation like Tokimeki.
It could be Girly games like Fashion, Pet Shop, Puzzle, etc.
And the amount of games like that are quite impresive on NDS & 3DS.
I can say, if SNK or any developers are DARE Enough to make the OPPOSITE of SNK Heroines (SNK Hunks / SNK Musclemen/ whatever it called), i believe the customers i mentioned about will probably the most loyal customers to buy Hunky Men games.
The people asking for the devs of this game to make an 'SNK Hunks' or whatever, did you consider that maybe these are mostly straight guys making this game and they don't want to develop something geared toward women or lgbt? I mean if somebody wants to make a game for them, awesome, I'm sure it could reach a market because there is a market for everything and depending on budget could turn a profit. But the devs have to want to make that kind of game for it to work out and generally speaking straight guys don't really enjoy looking at other men. It'd be an interesting question posed to an SNK employee though to see how they'd react if a gender-swapped game is something they'd want to make.
