Bloober Team is set to release its critically-acclaimed horror title Layers of Fear on Switch early next year and to drum up some festive cheer the studio has released a spooky Christmas trailer, which you can view above - if you're brave enough, that is.
Layers of Fear: Legacy is a Switch-exclusive update of the existing game, which is described as a "first-person psychological horror" where the player takes control of "an insane painter bent on finishing his masterpiece". It's already available on Steam, where it boasts a user rating of 9/10, and PS4. Our friends over at Push Square awarded it 8/10, calling it "tidily presented, tantalisingly tense trip through a fractured psyche".
Gameplay is focused on the exploration of an ever-changing environment - in this case, a rather spooky Victorian-era mansion - and uncovering the truth about the mental illness that has gripped the protagonist.
Bloober Team has also released an accolades trailer for the Steam version, which is worth a look if you're still on the fence about this intriguing game.

Definitely looking forward to this. It was well received by a lot of review sites too including Push Square. I'll be playing this and Outlast 1& 2 in the dark with the volume pumped up hoping to mess ma breeks all before the end of March. Can't wait!
More indies who've released well received games on other consoles or PC in the past should take this approach. If their game got good reviews but had some flaws reviewers picked up on, if possible try and fix these flaws for the Switch release. Then they have a very good game and an IP to build on in future. Will do wonders for their reputation, especially with those of us who only play on Nintendo.
I'll wait and see if this goes on sale during next Hallowe'en. Looks good though.
Played it on PC. If you create the right setting for it (darken the room, turn the volume way up, send the wife to her mother) it will give you the scare of your life. It is an amazing experience
@Ntanolas send the wife to her mother.... haha! You made my day!
Played this on PS4, it was kinda choppy. Never went back to it.
I'll see what updates it gets on the switch, but for now, I'm on the fence.
All I have to say is that it better not sucks. PC and PS4 ports may get better scores but that doesn't mean the Switch version would be the same.
@retro_player_22 Well that's a glass half empty way of looking at it if ever I've read one. I can't think of one single indie game that received good reviews on PS4/PC but then "sucks" on Switch. Even retail games, the only I can think of is WWE 2k18 but that isn't a good game regardless of platform.
So will they finally release Sadness for a Nintendo system?
Yep, I'm IN.
@crackafreeze Exactly what I was thinking!
This game looks very good... don't know if my nerves are up to it, but I'm too intrigued not to give it a go.
