Atooi may have been left disappointed with the early sales results for Chicken Wiggle on 3DS, but it's gearing up for its Switch eShop debut. The developer has confirmed that it'll bring Mutant Mudds Collection exclusively to Nintendo's current-gen system.
It'll include Mutant Mudds Deluxe, Mutant Mudds Super Challenge and the all-new Mudd Blocks. IGN has some exclusive screens including a look at Mudd Blocks and its various modes; it's a falling block puzzler, an area Atooi's staff worked on under the Renegade Kid guise with Bomb Monkey on 3DS.
Check out the trailer and a couple of the screens below; as you can see online leaderboards are also confirmed for each game, which should please speedrunners and score chasers.
It's due before the end of this year, and it'll be interesting to see whether it takes off on Switch. The original Mutant Mudds was a notable hit on 3DS, so Atooi will be hoping that a value proposition with three games bundled in will attract plenty of download gamers.
Are you interested in picking this up?

It's probably best to sell these as a collection. Other developers should take note instead of trying to milk games individually.
I played the first one but not the sequel, so I will probably pick this up.
Pass. Completed Mutant Mudds on 3DS. Didn't find it very enjoyable thanks to bad game/level design. I got it when it was on sale alongside its sequel. Not interested in playing the sequel though since the name Super Challenge makes me think of Lost Levels and when it came to Lost Levels, the original Super Mario Bros. was good. I can't imagine what happens when they take the level design from the first Mutant Mudds and make the stages harder.
Great News!
I enjoyed Mutant Mudds, so I might nab this collection and give the games one more go on the Switch.
Have it on 3ds, Wii U (before deluxe update revved up for 3ds) and i0S version....
....And I admit that I played all three of them at the same time that one time, so a 4th dip might be revved at a later date.
I...don't know. I'll read a review but to me this looks like it has all the appeal of a naff Amiga platformer.
Yep. I'll get it on Switch. Keep the cost at or under $20 and I'm in.
Still got the original for 3DS so I may get this for the other two.
I already have both on 3DS, and the games are, I would argue, much better with the 3D effect. Not really interested in Mudd Blocks.
I completed (100%) Mutant Mudds on 3DS but for some reason I didn't get Super Challenge. It's a great game. I will be getting this.
I have the first one on 3DS. I can’t say I was a huge fan. I liked the graphics, but the gameplay was just ok.
TBH I’m intrigued by Mudd Blocks. I like 2D games and I grew up with the likes of Commander Keen and the original 2D Duke Nukem so the nostalgia bait works here. If the price is right (maybe with a price drop), this could be a nice little pickup. The original Mudds game is frequently discounted to $1 on Steam.
Oh I’m getting it. Glad to see my fav indies showing up on my fav console.
Bout time. Get that "Mudd" branding out there for Switch owners. Associate it with Atooi so that the two are one and the same. That's step 1.
Then come hard with a game that impresses and exceeds expectations. There are 3 needs customers are looking to be met. Basic needs, performance needs and excitement needs. Making a solid, functional game that's fun only meets basic needs. You have to do more if you want sales. You have to go above and beyond, where gamers say "ahh, more than I expected" or "better than I was expecting". But the excitement is the most important. Bring a game that excites gamers. That's how you make a splash. Don't just pump out rote sequels of an ok game series that once upon a time sold well on 3DS. Excite. Surprise. Make gamers say "holy crap that's awesome and I gotta have it! Day one!"
@SLIGEACH_EIRE agreed, if the price for this collection is decent I'll finally buy these.
I'll get this day one - looks like Wario Land for the Virtual Boy - the puzzle game reminds me of Tetris Attack on the GB. Almost bought Chicken Wiggle - I just don't want that much stuff on my N3DS when I got a Switch.
Looks pretty good to me. As long as the price it right then it should do well enough on Switch.
It's sad to hear the chicken wiggle did not do as well, I love that game. If people like Platformers and like the mutant mud Graphics style they should definitely pick up chicken wiggle.
I have the first two on 3DS and I like both, the 3D effect is great so I probably would fall in the category of only wanting this on 3DS and the games seem tailor made for use of the 3D effect though I am a score chaser and an online leaderboards chaser so I don't know if the price is right its a maybe but if you have not tried them the first two are solid platformers I would recommend.
Glad to see. Hopefully Chicken Wiggle finds its way to Switch, too.
Will buy this for sure.
While I will continue to think those "everything should be on Switch now because I have one and therefore literally everyone does and we all threw out our 3DS' too" guys are ridiculous until the Switch hits the one-year mark, this is still a great step in the right direction for Atooi. They've paid their dues on 3DS, and now it's time to see what they can do with the new hardware.
Like @Romeo-75 I recommend the 3DS version as it works really well in 3D. I don't normally bother with 3D but I did with Mutant Mudds.
It's great when Atooi comes with new, INTERESTING game ideas. I like Mutant Mudds alot but, I've played it and so have many others. I think their games did so well on 3DS because they brought new fun ideas to a new system. Chicken Wiggle just doesn't do it for most and this collection is a rehash. I hope this collection sells well for their sake but, I think we will need to see something a bit more groundbreaking before they reach their previous levels of success again.
@Late Thank god I'm not the only one who didn't find Mutant Mudds to be very good. Got the first game on sale and hated it. It had very mediocre level design and was very forgettable. Skipped the sequel for the same reason as you
And for anyone wondering, mudd blocks is a reskin of bomb monkey. If you go onto Jool's Youtube page and click on the trailer, Jools stated this was the case in a reply to a commenter. I thought bomb monkey was solid, but it didn't do enough to elevate it to the realm of amazing puzzle games. The lack of block preview for the next few blocks made it frustrating to plan moves ahead. I ultimately ended up deleting the game off of my 3ds. You can get the game on 3ds for around $2-$3 iirc
Pass, unless it under $15 and even then i might not double dip.
Bought the first one on Wii U. It was ok, but nothing memorable. Never finished it, either. So I'll pass on the collection.
Pass. Mutant Mudds was made specifically for 3DS so I'm a little tired of Atooi releasing this game on every system under the sun.
I loved the first game. I found the Super Challenge game too difficult. The block game interests me.
PS For the record, I loved Chicken Wiggle. I 100%'ed the game.
Is it possible for devs to give discounts based on previous 3DS and Wii U purchases? Have any devs done this yet? It would be nice to get a slight discount when buying the games again.
I'm so sick and tired of seeing this game be repurposed and re-released endlessly.
Remember how ambitious it was originally? When it was first announced, it was a Mario Sunshine-esque 3D Platformer for the DS*. Do that. Go back to that idea. That would be welcome to see.
Put this iteration of Mutant Mudds to bed - people have seen it enough; this had its shot and did its business. The last thing the 2D pixel art indie machine that is the Switch needs is yet another faux retro 2D pixel art indie game.
Also bonus, here's a video from when Renegade Kid took that same engine and pitched a Crash Bandicoot 3D Platformer for the DS to Activision: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGftCH43H9E
That engine looked pretty dang good for that hardware. Shame they never did any 3D Platformers
Well, we all know he's going to charge through the roof for it. I think the pricing is what puts most people off his games.
All three as a physical release would be fantastic.
@YANDMAN very doubtful i think
For a moment i thought reading" Itoi confirms" then oh snap a real MOTHER 4...nope!
@Bunkerneath agreed, thats how it ought to be done though.
