Is it wrong that I first read it as "Pokémon Trading Card Game's Guardian Russia Expansion Is Out In The UK Now"?
No, because I collect the Japanese cards, despite what HMRC throw and "handling fees" throw at me.
I wonder if Marshadow will make an appearance and whichtyping they'll go for, if the 'power' doesn't take typing into account, i.e. Ghost-type, but super-effective to Dark-type.
My 7 year old son is obsessed with Pokemon and wants to start collecting cards. Is this a good way to start? Does it come with rules?
Felt this was due out soon, was looking for it in Target on Wednesday. Whenever new series come out every few months they always pick up a couple of packs.
Here's the info from the Pokemon US/NA website, yes they come out today here too.

My very first booster box arrived at noon
I've had some great pulls including Sylveon GX in both standard and FA, my fave had to be the Tapu Koko GX Rainbow secret rare. Good luck to those collecting it 😊
@antonvaltaz Yeah, absolutely! Any place is a good place to start with the TCG, as it doesn't particularly matter what cards you start with, especially if you're just collecting. The full 60-card deck boxes are the perfect starting point, as they contain a full set deck, accessories, and rules! (At least, last time I checked.) Expensive, yes, but a good starting point!
@GloverMist He's been saving up his pocket money and has decided to go for this, is this what you meant?

@antonvaltaz Yep, that's the one! Everything you should need is in those boxes... But it is slightly cheaper here! https://www.chaoscards.co.uk/pokemon-c11/theme-decks-pokemon-c14/pokemon-m12/sun-and-moon-guardians-rising-t9730
My roommate sort of got me back into collecting Pokemon cards this past semester... I really shouldn't pick up any more packs when these come to the US but man it'll be tempting, especially with all of the money I'll be making.
The cards look awesome, but the game itself is facing a major power creep. They need to make some good counters against gx cards.
@GloverMist That's great, thank you! Wondering about getting a double pack so that I can play against him...
@antonvaltaz Hey, I'm glad to be of some use! I was just looking it up, and the recent 'Lycanroc & Alolan Raichu Trainer Kit' includes two 30-card half decks, a play mat, and a how to play guide, for two players to play. Perhaps that might do the trick?
@antonvaltaz Theme Decks are definitely decent starts. I play with my 8-year-old with a few of those. They're not cometitive by any stretch of the imagination, but for filthy casuals like us they work fine. And power creep doesn't ever really affect theme decks, so pretty much any theme deck from any set is okay to start with.
@antonvaltaz theme decks are awfully built, they don't prepare people for deck-building or the game in general - the main problem is they really slow the game down.
However there are VERY good reasons to start buying theme decks for young players:
*Balance - theme deck vs theme deck from the same set usually means a fair game.
*Rules, counters etc included in the box
*Ready to play out of the box - 60 cards.
*Ease of use - generally no complex tactics involved.
*Price - Two theme decks to get started will not cost a lot of money and you're not relying on luck for good pulls.
*Will contain at least 1 popular/recognisable line of Pokemon (like the starters and their evolutions).
Me and my son learned using theme decks. I recently taught my 4 year old daughter how to play on a custom half-deck though (even further simplified) and she loves it too!
