Here Are The Players Lining Up For NBA Playgrounds On Switch

Good seeing multiformat games coming out on Switch at the same time as the others...

I can't see the file size being small enough for this to be a viable option as a digital-only download on Switch. Publishers should considering producing cartridges of their larger digital titles for the Switch, if nothing else. This is going to demand a high asking price for a digital-only title (likely AU$30), plus, say, AU$10 worth of Micro SD card storage. I'd rather pay a bit more and have it on cartridge.

... I don't recognize a single name. I blame myself for stop watching NBa when Jordan retired. Looking forward to this one, hope it delivers the boomshakalakha I sorely miss.

@ZiggyZane I read somewhere that you got to pay a looooot of money in order to use Jordan in your game. 2K can afford that, but certainly not these guys

I recognise some players that appeared in NBA: Hangtime and there is a big list I haven't seen or heard of. Dean Radja and Rick Fox from the Boston Celtics are not the list. Charles Oakley isn't on it either, I am sure enough he was a great player for the New York Knicks. Kobe Bryant isn't there too. In the end there are a great list of players and will buy the game after a week.

I used to be a basketball fanatic, back in the day of Bird and Magic. Today's basketball is GARBAGE and would not watch it if you paid me.

Haven't played a basketball game in ages, but this is a Day One purchase for me.

I would imagine this will do far better then NBA 2k will later this year. When it comes to basketball more people like this over realism.

@ZiggyZane Royalties. The developers would need to pay a bit of money to include those and other players, raising the cost of this title even more. I think for $20 this is a very decent list of players including a lot of NBA All-Stars. Still I'm pretty happy with my home team all-stars being included, plus the likes of Shaq, Johnson, Iverson, etc. You never know additional players could be added with time, and though unlikely players like Jordan or Rodman could give their consent to have their likenesses included for free. This is easily looking to be a day one purchase for me.

I have reservations since this is a relatively unproven studio with little experience with sports titles, but I hope for it to review well, and if so, might get on board.

NBA jam was one of my favourite SNES games and if I even got half as much enjoyment out of this it would be money well spent

If this game's reviews are at least decent (mostly 7's) I'll get it for sure! I LOVE NBA 2K, but I also LOVED NBA Jam and NBA Street V3 so there's a good chance I'll get way more than $20 worth of value out of this game

@Darius_Truxton Jordan's name and likeness actually demand more money now then when he played. It's a little ridiculous, but I guess you have to protect the brand.

Maybe him and some of the others mention will come to DLC. As single player downloads, it could allow you to pick who you wanted without having to break the bank.

If this has similar gameplay to NBA Jam then I will deffo pick this up, and I dont even follow Basketball. If its fun arcadey and over the top Im sure this will be a multiplayer hit.

Understand some of the bigger names not being on here but there are some player I would have thought would be included that aren't. Isaiah Thomas Senior (and Jnr come to think about it), Gary Payton (Kemp but no Payton is just wrong), Paul Pierce I could go on and on. Although this is a decent size roster and when I get a switch it will be a day one purchase.

@Swoltacular Sorry to hear that. It does make me a bit concerned about the online component of NBA Playgrounds. Hopefully, like you say, the team reason responsible for MCC's online has been replaced.

I guess I'm not the target market, since I only know eight of those names. Kudos for having Wilt Chamberlain on the roster, but I'm not likely to buy this. Still, good to see a nice variety of games coming to the Switch, as it should help it get the games I am interested in.

Extremely random roster. A lot of rookies who aren't proven or anywhere close to it. Some current players with experience who aren't even the 1, 2 or 3 on their teams, yet the 1, 2, 3 guys are missing (Klay Thompson, Serge Ibaka). Just very odd overall.

I'm pretty late to this thread but my appreciation for Jimmy Butler is obvious. What an eclectic list of players, ranging from some true legends to barely starters in todays game. I'm looking at you Ricky Rubio. Ben Simmons hasn't even played a game in the NBA yet. Kinda weird but still cool.

Man as a Celtics fan I'm upset with this roster, no Bird, no Kevin Mchale, and most importantly NO ISAIAH THOMAS, I mean, the man was only a top 10 player this year and was talked about (not very much which is fair) as a candidate for MVP. Oh well at least we have The GOAT Bill Russell and...Al Horford.

Edit: okay, I just looked it up and Isiaiah is gonna be dlc, I think that's garbage, but at least he'll be in the game.
