Gaming attracts some incredibly talented creators, and we enjoy keeping track of some musicians that show their love for games through their projects. A new album is now out to celebrate Chrono Trigger - it's called Hero Muzik Vol. II.
Produced by K-Murdock with a broad range of contributors, it remixes classic themes from the game with a Hip Hop style; we think it does a great job. You can read the official summary and listen to it below.
Hero Muzik 2 is the second installment of K-Murdock's "Hero Muzik" series which features K remixing music from his favorite role-playing games growing up; Volume 2 focuses on the ever-present SNES classic RPG Chrono Trigger. This album was a labor of love that took K over 2 years to complete and it was initially intended, like its predecessor, to be an instrumental album, BUT at the advice of his business partner/frequent collaborator Mega Ran, Hero Muzik 2 turned into a full-scale production project that prominently features various artists from the Nerdy People Of Color Collective (NPCC), which Ran & K are members of as well. Though this album boasts an assortment of features, much like the diverse cast of characters in the actual game, the underlying goal in Hero Muzik 2 is showcasing the breadth of amazing music from Chrono Trigger, which composers Yasunori Mitsuda & Nobuo Uematsu originally created, via K putting his signature "neo-sonic" touch on!
Although you can stream for free, the album can also be bought over on Bandcamp, it's $8 or more for the download or $12.99+ for the download plus CD; you can pay more than the minimum if you wish.
Have a listen (with headphones ideally) and let us know what you think.

These are all amazing artists. I can't recommend Sammus enough, though. DEFINITELY check out her "Another M" EP where she raps through the soundtrack of Metroid through Samus's perspective going through the first game.
Noooice! I love Mega Ran and I'm sure I'll love this. Chrono Trigger has some of the best 16bit era music.
Cool! I am not a hip hop fan but I love the versatility of music in general. Always nice to see genres mixing and branching out.
@DiscoGentleman Not sure if you like anime, but there is this local rapper in my city, Aramis, and he just released a sicc song 2 weeks ago called "Spike Spiegel."
This is a link to it on Youtube he uploaded, if anyone wants to check it out. Pretty well made. There is a few curse words, for those who are easily offended. Haha.

Oh God! That was horrendous. I wish I could unhear this.
I saw Mega Ran at E3 in 2013, and he's really great. Cool to see him on this compilation. He's got some great albums out there if you're interested in game rap and hip hop.
Awfull!
This cover art is spot-on Toriyama, save maybe the hat. Could see this in motion on GT or Super.
About 10 years ago I downloaded a collection of songs called "DJ Epoch - Chrono Trigger Mixtape" which mixed then-current hit rap songs with songs from Chrono Trigger.
One of the best ones on there was 50 Cent - Disco Inferno remixed with the Gato theme:

Some of these are good like "Robo", others are just ok

That's what I like about humanity's freedom of choice: he has the choice of not only piggybacking off someone else's work but summarily destroying what made it good in the first place by infusing it with his distinct lack of musical ability.
Whereas I have the choice of dismissing said musically-inclined travesty with a crass comment on the internet that nobody will read or care about, making you ponder who really wasted their time in this instance.
Fascinating, no?
