While Nintendo of America is yet to offer an online store as substantial as in the UK, its rather low key store does nevertheless occasionally offer great deals on refurbished goodies. At the moment Wii U fans in North America have some decent options, including a few select games.
A notable option is a 32GB Black Wii U that comes with both Super Mario 3D World and Nintendo Land. It doesn't come with any Remotes or Nunchuks, but with both those games it's a thoroughly attractive $225, well worth considering for those on a budget - at the time of writing it's still in stock and available here.
As an extra there are also three refurbished Wii U games up for sale, all going for a little less than they do in stores - all they're missing is a manual, but considering modern manuals are often little more than one folded A4 sheet, that's a minor loss. These three games are all $33 right here, with one being two games for one (if you count standalone DLC).
Some decent deals if you're in North America and happy to save some money for refurbished games and systems. Are you tempted by any of these offers?
Thanks to Ryan Millar for the heads up.

Once club nintendo ceases to exist, I'll be looking at refurbished games, but I need 'dem coins!
Cool! Makes me wish I had money ;-;
I'd buy the New combo but, as always, Nintendo thinks NA is just USA and Canada
Time to rally 250$ to buy this!
If they had the same bundle for brand new for $199.99 CAD I MIGHT consider then buying the system, but with the lack of games, I'll keep waiting till Xenoblade comes out.
@Jahir yea, sometimes they don't even add us Canadians into it But you are right, Mexico gets the shaft ALOT from them.
Great deal for whats included! Unfortunately, I already have a Wii U and all of these games. I'm surprised Nintendo is doing this at such a random moment. But I suppose its some sort of business strategy.
I'd like to take this time to mention that Nintendo Land is an abomination. It is the polar opposite of everything Wii Sports encapsulated and was half of the reason the Wii U is as big a disappointment as it is. The other half being the Gamepad.
I am a day one Wii U Deluxe purchaser.
@Ayronom I'll let you know why they're doing this now, at such a random moment. And more importantly why they never did this stuff during the original Wii's day: Wii U is a cultural and social disaster, therefore they have plenty of these to unload. Wii was a cultural movement, therefore they couldn't manufacture enough to meet demand the first 3 years.
@gatorboi352 Sounds like someone is a bit salty... Nintendo Land is just as fun as Wii Sports was, which is to say only fun for a month, and that's just if you're playing by yourself. Only difference is that after Wii Sports, you could move on to a Zelda game. The Wii U is doing a lot better now than it was at launch, and has much more enjoyable games. If you want to hold a grudge against Nintendo for selling you a system with barely any games on it, remember that you bought the system at launch. You'd have the same problem buying a PS4 or XBONE at launch. As for the GamePad, no one is forcing you to use it. Just get a Pro Controller and play some of the many games that support it.
When Nintendo starts beating prices on Amazon. Then talk to me.
@gatorboi352 What? Wii Sports is fun solo and with friends. But Nintendo Land is a blast with friends or family, if you played it alone then maybe that's why you think that but man, it's one of the best party games out there
@Jahir
I agree, Nintendo Land is the best kept secret on Wii U. Some of the games are a wash, but the Zelda, Donkey Kong, Metroid (ESPECIALLY the Metroid), and Pikmin games are a blast, and not just in multiplayer either.

Lots of great games on the Wii U guys! And we've got some excellent titles to look forward to in the near future with Splatoon and Xenoblade X just months away...
@DarthNocturnal
This is the first time Nintendo has really pushed refurbished hardware. They could have last gen to help keep up with demand, but they didn't have to because they were flying off shelves.
Why would you push refurbished hardware so much if you'd rather people bought it new? Either you have a lot of excess hardware you need to get rid of, or you really need to boost sales. Its either that or sales and price-drops, selling refurbished hardware is a good middle-ground.
@gatorboi352
Your comment on the gamepad is abomination. I do agree on Nintendo Land not being on the level of Wii Sports though.
@mjc0961 Everyone has their own likes and dislikes, but just because you don't like something, it doesn't make it a failure. I prefer to use the GamePad for almost every VC game for off-TV play, and even some games that are better seen in HD, such as Hyrule Warriors (besides, it's easier to switch items with the touch screen than with the +Control Pad.) There are other games, like The Wonderful 101 and Game & Wario, that put the touch screen to good use. The only games I ever hated for the GamePad's functionality was New Super Mario Bros. U/Super Mario 3D World.
@JaxonH The Luigi U and Mario Kart 8 cases stick out majorly. Well the Mario Kart 8 one in North America does, not the one here in the U.K...
@JaxonH nice collection, kinda shows why companys say we mostly just buy Nintendo games though!! I'm not throwing stones here, just an observation.....
@ULTRA-64
Oh, that's not even half my Wii U games- I have every 3rd party AAA game and port there is. I just took a pic of the exclusives- the games not available anywhere else, as a reminder of some of the great games you get access to when you buy a Wii U
@gatorboi352 I'm gonna stick my neck on the line and agree 100% about Nintendo land......it was a massive fail! It was unwelcoming, clunky, lacking in content, unrepresentative of the franchise's included and just not good enough fun for a party game overall! Now if I'd got it free I'd be less bitter but I paid ÂŁ50 at launch for that and got ripped off big time. Even game and wario was better imo.....
The gamepad on the other hand is imo a revalation in gaming and is great in my house!
@JaxonH fair play dude, I wish I had the time to play as many.....I have to 100% everything I play so it takes me forever to finish games off between work/cats/missus/life etc...... =(
@ULTRA-64
I'm a completionist too, but, I like trying new experiences and game hopping depending on my mood. But when I do get into a game, usually I stick with it- at least until the next release that grabs my attention away.
I'm actually surprised you didn't like NintendoLand. Well, some of the games weren't too great (maybe they're better in MP, Idk), but I really enjoyed Metroid, Zelda, Pikmin and Donkey Kong. I was surprised how in depth they were for a "mini game" collection. Then again, my copy was a pack in at launch too...
@JaxonH the only time nland comes out is for multiplayer, the Luigi/Mario games usually and the metroid one was Good with other gamers. For 1 player I went through a phase of playing the dk one but I feel no draw to finish any off(unusual for me), they got boring fast and have no replay value for me. the other modes are a waste which is a shame as they have no depth for veterans or accessibility for newbies. It was just not good enough in so many ways for me, but tastes vary and I've certainly bought worse games in the past!
What annoys me use the USA store sells the Gamepad horisontal stand for just $4 whereas in the EU the only way to get it is with Wii Party U (And an additional wiimote).
@mjc0961 In which case if the item is defected, you can call Amazon and demand a refund or a brand new copy from Amazon themselves. They're pretty good with that. And while I guess I wasn't specific, I was more referring to the Wii U.
Kind of wish all my tax refund didn't have to go to fixing my car now...
@gatorboi352 really? Abomination? It wasn't THAT bad, true it's useless as a single player game, but some of the games are actually pretty damn fun w/ 4 players.
@Sonicman I watched an unboxing video for refurbished bundle and they included club Nintendo codes. Also... They don't have tax free/free shipping so in the end... Is it really worth it? B&h photo has it 299.99 no tax free shipping. Let's do the math... And brand new.
This is a fantastic deal. If they had deals like this more often maybe the console wouldn't be struggling as much as it is.
@DarthNocturnal
More than with the Wii I mean. I dunno, maybe its just they're utilizing their site more over all, but selling $225 bundles and $30 games is just odd for Nintendo. They're putting more effort in, which Nintendo tends to do when backed into a corner.
so 225+17(tax)+5(shipping) = 250ish for a used machine and who knows if it really includes club nintendo.
299.99 is for the new one so for about 50 bucks more, you get a brand new machine from b&h
BTW, anybody get this feeling that nintendo is trying to get rid of their inventory so that they can cash in on it before this summer? i really have this bad feeling about summer being the time they reveal The NEW Wii U. which will have many better features but still be a wii u but just have more features..
am i the only one?
@Zombie_Barioth Im sort of leaning towards your theory that they need to get rid of excess inventory before the summer.. where i believe they will reveal The NEW Wii U to match the branding of The NEW 3DS. with more features.. but still compatible. its more like a 1.5 update of the system rather than a full 2.0
@JaxonH Uh Jaxon how did you get pics of my gaming collection? Seriously this is a great time to be a Nintendo fan.
@Ryu_Niiyama
It really is. And I think rational people see that- people who honestly just want to play great games... they can see that.
@mushroomer
Ya but you'd pay tax either way. So it's still a $45 savings, which for some might be enough persuasion. Me, I'd just rather pay the extra $50 and buy new, but, I've got it to spare- there are many frugal gamers out there that wait for just the right deal to bite... And this one isn't bad. I still think the 3D World bundle through major sellers on the eBay storefront for $259.99 was the best deal we've seen yet, and it was tax free and free shipping. That deal's been coming and going a lot lately, usually they sell about 500 per day when they list
@Sonicman Most of the games I buy are refurbished and the ones that come with CN codes, about 95 percent of them have been valid. Appears a lot of people who return games don't use the service anyway
Nice deal. I have been looking to get Super Mario 3D World for my multiplayer gamer nights. I hope they still have some when I get paid.
@mushroomer This isn't "excess inventory". These are consoles that, for whatever reason, were returned to retailers and then sent back to Nintendo. They then fix them, clean them, or whatever, and then sell as refurbished. It's not indicative of the system being a failure or Nintendo being desperate, as a couple people here seem to think.
@MC808 yeah i get that too. but whether or not these are available on the n store, i get this gut feeling that last year, they announced the NEW 3DS and this year they will announce the NEW Wii U. anybody else fell that way?

great deal, these are still going for $299 new in stores.
I still haven't taken the plunge for the Wii U though. My budget for my hobbies like video games isn't large at all. I bought a PS4 when it launched and I have a few games. I want to buy a Wii U pretty badly, but I don't want to sell the PS4 and I don't have the money for both.
I think by the end of 2015 I'll own one though, hopefully Nintendo keeps the refurbished consoles in stock, it's a great, cheaper alternative to still support the Big N.
But, I'm holding out for after E3 at the earliest.
Anyone else think they might announce the Wii U's successor this year? If they did, whether or not it was Wii U backwards compatible will obviously play a big role in whether I purchase a Wii U.
Honestly, I hope Nintendo leaves the Wii brand in the past and starts fresh with a classic controller, even bringing back the gamecube controller with some modern updates, which would mean no backwards compatibility. I'd personally be fine with that, though on the other hand having backwards compatibility would be great for someone in my position, as I could easily justify skipping the Wii U entirely and buying the new system halfway through my PS4's life cycle...
sorry for the tangent!
Not Handsome enough.
@mushroomer My reply is a bit late, but yeah I think you're probably right.
