It's almost the end of 2014, so Nintendo Minute - the NoA video series - has made sure it wrapped up its Game of the Year awards. In previous weeks hosts Kit and Krysta have shortlisted their own personal choices for both Wii U and 3DS, while viewers have been voting in the Super Sixteen Showdown knockout rounds.
As you can see below, the hosts shared an overall winner and chose some widely popular titles, while the high profile showdown in the finale of the user vote is finally determined; we think, considering the time of year, we should forgive the typo in the end results!

MK8 for me just like these likable duo! 7 months later and I'm still playing it regularly! It never gets boring playing online.
In a matchup between Super Smasb Bros. for Wii U vs. Mario Kart 8, i didn't expect to see Super Smash Bros. for 3DS coming out on top!
Mario Kart 8 was so mediocre to me. Super Smash Bros for Wii U is still the best game of 2014.
I signed up for Twitter just to vote and have a chance to win the prizes. I voted for Mario Kart 8 the through every stage of the bracket. Like they said on Nintendo Minute, there were so many choices and deserving games this year. I could have easily went with Smash, Bayonetta 2, or Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze; but ultimately I feel that Mario Kart 8 is the most polished and fun to play for me......and that's saying a lot if you take a moment and think about how awesome those other games are!
I don't think MK8 is much fun at all. (Thinking about trying again with motion controls).
I would go for Tropical Freeze (Difficulty curve not as good as Returns) or Smash Bros.
Can always count on the people to get it wrong.
I'm always surprised how much people here on the site love Tropical Freeze. I'm playing it right now and it feels like a very mediocre game to at best. I loved MK8 although it sometimes feels really unbalanced. Much more so than Smash. But yeah I'd go with MK8 if it comes to first party. Had a lot of fun with it (still do!) and it has the best DLC ever (Shovel Knight still my game of the year and I feel like that game is pretty much perfect).
Mario Kart 7 is still better than Mario Kart 8...

MK8 and Smash 4 tie for me. And I'm a competitive Smash player.

MK8 is Wii U's version of Destiny. An incredibly mediocre game that is popular because it's mindlessly simple to play over and over. Like eating potato chips out of a big bag.

These two are terrible! It's like they hate eachother and there is absolutely no chemistry between them at all.
