It's that time of year again, when we all look back and think about our favourite games of the past 12 months. Official video series Nintendo Minute is naturally joining in, and has kicked off a run of videos that'll work through and award the host's Game of the Year nominees and winners.
In this first video series hosts — Kit and Krysta — run through some of their eShop favourites across Wii U and 3DS, without a bad game in the bunch. If you enjoy having your say, though, the second half of the video introduces a 'match-up' format in which games are randomly drawn together, with fan votes on Twitter determining which titles progress to the next round. Gamers in the US will be entered into a prize sweepstakes for eShop credit, though the video's description outlines the rules.
You can check out this first video below, and it's also stated that in addition to GoTY videos there'll be plenty more Nintendo Minute episodes throughout December; we can only hope that Nintendo's teases of a few more surprises for fans — made through a press release in late November — will be part of what's to come. Keep your eyes peeled here on Nintendo Life, too, as we're gearing up to kick off voting for the Community awards, which will then be handed out — as always — during the Holiday break.

Nooo! Poor Captain Toad.
I wasn't going to sit through the match ups but that was sort of the best part.
That striped shirt, doe! I thought the Freddy Kruegar style went out in the eighties.
Haven't played B2 or CT:TT yet but HW for me.
It's Krista! ...
Just kidding, she is cute though.
Both Smash Bros., Mario Kart 8, & Capt. Toad would be my votes.
I actually have a Twitter account just for Nintendo competitions. And for posting Fantasy Life images.
Poor Mario Kart 8
My GotY is likely going to be beaten by a pair of remakes. Still looking forward to playing Alpha Sapphire sometime this month though. The most interesting matchup I'd say is Hyrule Warriors vs. Bayonetta 2.
Mario Kart MUST win. I first bought a 3DS in anticipation for pokemon x y and since then I've played lots of other games and to be honest ORAS isn't as good as people think. 7.8/10 too much nostalgia, not impressive enough.
And really, I hope Smash wins. No other game this year has been as good. (or liven up to the hype)
Pretty slow year as far retail. But as far as each release, they were all very much worth having. I'd say mk8 and super smash bros. justify owning the system. Bayonetta is a classic... Toad's Treasure Tracker (it appears) and DKTF are both high quality games
@KodyDawg Same here. I always say "no thank you" when they announce a contest because I know it'll be through Twitter. This time I really want to vote though! I have a feeling Mario Kart 8 is going to need my vote. That, and I can't wait to see the potential Smash face off in the final 4.
I bought my Wii U not solely for DK:TF but it had a lot to do with getting the system. We bought the bundle and Super Mario 3D World but we couldn't wait to buy DK:TF. Of course it didn't hurt to look ahead and see Mario Kart 8 and Smash Bros. on the horizon. Also, all the surprises like Bayonnetta 2 and Tomodachi Life. My family owns most of the games on the bracket so it's going to be tough choosing our favorites.
Needs more Scram Kitty.
Kit... <3
It will be really cool to see fantasy life x Smash in the finals but probably will be Smash x ORAS due to the huge ORAS fan(boys)base, the two smashes and fantasy life in the same bracket.
Should be mk8, fun in its purest form!
Bravely Default needs to be in the top 5 .
