Last week we told you about a planned Japanese 3DS Direct with a focus on third-party games, and rather late last night Nintendo confirmed a time for this latest extravaganza. Naturally we're interested to see what's on the way, even if there's a danger of it featuring some games that won't make it West.
It all kicks off very soon - 6am Eastern U.S., 11am UK time and 12pm in Europe — and you can see it live here. We'll be watching and live texting as always, though as this will be in Japanese we're mainly in it for the game footage. Will this be a re-tread of already confirmed games or a broadcast full of surprises? We'll soon find out.
Be sure to hit us up in the comments with your reaction to the broadcast and the games it shows.
Live Text - Updates will load here automatically, no need to refresh the page.
Well, that was packed with games, some of which may even come to the West. Ending with Monster Hunter and DQX was no surprise, and the software lineup looks rather healthy in Japan. We're signing off, and a couple of the bigger stories will make their way onto the front page. Thanks for joining us!
And with a mention of Dragon Quest X beta on Wii U, the broadcast ends.
Monster Hunter 4 looks excellent, it must be said.
It seems that a Wii U LAN adapter will allow online play in Monster Hunter 3G on 3DS.
It appears that 3DS online play in Monster Hunter 3G may be possible through the Wii U, via LAN. We're trying to get details.
Monster Hunter IV trailer time, the West can look forward to this years from now...
That gorgeous Shin Megami Tensei IV 3DS LL hits Japan on 23rd May, too.
Shin Megami Tensei IV looks rather cool, as we would expect.
Epic music, lots of running around and battles, it's Atlus time...
It's Atlus time, we predict a meaty RPG...
Like the Western release of 3/4 of Guild01, Guild02's 3 games to be separate eShop downloads.
Oh snap, Guild02 project is coming to Japan.
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate hits Japan on 20th March.
Familiar ground now, with Castlevania goodness. A good looking game for the handheld.
Super Robot Taisen UX 3DS LL bundle also coming to Japan.
Super Robot Taisen UX has pretty sweet music, if you're into that sort of thing.
Oh yeah, this one has awesome music...
Dragonball Heroes: Ultimate Mission bringing the crazy to Japan on 28th February
Either the demo player is super-human, or this puzzle game is particularly frantic.
This looks like the kind of game that probably won't make it outside of Japan. In other words, colourful and intriguing.
Lots of Layton footage, and it looks like the usual goodness.
Zelda games were only confirmed for Japanese VC, obviously...
Shaun the Sheep! Some reverse localisation there, excellent animation series.
The Legend of Zelda Oracles of Seasons and Ages on VC 27th February
Tomodachi Collection arrives in Japan on 18th April.
Everyone is green!
10/10 for peculiar but strangely enjoyable music...
10/10 for peculiar but strangely enjoyable music
Footage of Tomodachi Collection, with Mii integration being a focus.
To be precise, mini 3DS Iwata was from Tomodachi Collection
It's mini 3DS Iwata.
And so it begins.
5 minutes to go now; as this is 3rd party our dreams of the Luigi hat may be denied...
Tea has been brewed, we're waiting Nintendo.
With 3DS dominating Japanese sales, it'd be interesting to know whether this broadcast is getting much hype in Nintendo's homeland, or whether a certain competitor's reveal has taken the sting out of it.
The description on the stream has (sub) in brackets, and we'd be delighted if that means "subtitles"...
This broadcast will be 33 minutes long, just long enough to necessitate refreshments
30 minutes until the Japanese 3DS Direct. What 3rd Party delights will we see?

Fingers crossed for a new Yu-Gi-Oh! game (since we didn't get one last year) and some new Digimon Re:Digitize info! ^_^
Why dont you have a looksie at Cardfight Vanguard 3DS beta
This will probably begin with announcements about 3DS updates coming over the course of Spring. My prediction, since this is a Japanese conference, there's going to be details on Monster Hunter 4, something else from Capcom, maybe a new Shin Megami Tensei, something from Konami other than Castlevania (I'm hoping for another MGS port), probably two Square Enix games, Ace Attorney 5 stuff, one of which is a sequel or remake to something big (TWEWY? Bravely Default? a FFVII remake?), and finally, a few eShop reveals. Finally, they'll end by announcing a Wii U third party Direct coming soon.
Oh good I can watch this while working on a newspaper. Lovely.
I have no idea what is going on
Hey the Legend of Zelda Oracle games!
BRING THEM TO NORTH AMERICA NINTENDO!!!!! BRING US THE ORACLES!!!!!
Go thing I happened to wake up at this time, because I had no idea about this...The video is taking a long time to load on my iPhone :/
anyone else getting a jumpy feed?
Oracle Games please Nintendo
Hope that we westerners also get the Oracle games to e-shop this year. That first Guild02 title looked intriguing.
Please bring the Zelda Oracle games to the west!Oh! And the guild02 also! Another great Nintendo Direct!!
In a nutshell, here's all that ND inevitably meant for us non-Japanese-speaking gamers:
-Zelda: Oracle games will be on the eShop sooner rather than later.
-Professor Layton 6 will be coming. Eventually.
-Shin Megami Tensei IV and Monster Hunter 4 both look incredible and will also eventually make their way West. Eventually.
-Almost everything else will not be localized. Which is a shame, because Youkai Watch and Super Robot Wars UX looked interesting.
Monster Hunter 4 looks amazing. Looks to be really pushing the hardware graphically speaking.
So MH3U's 3DS version can now go online with Wii U LAN adapter? Sweet for those who own a Wii U and want to get the 3DS version! Also, can't wait for the last Professor Layton! I will miss that guy MH4 looks licious, too!
FINALLY!!!!
I GOT MY WISH!!!
ZELDA ORACLE SERIES!!!!
I knew if I annoyed Nintendo enough that they would relent!
Hey wait what does tingle represent ? hes drawing maps like he does in Majoras mask ? is this hinting something ?
I'll insta download the Zelda Oracles games if they put them on the EU E-Shop...absolutely loved my old GBC versions. Can't wait for the new Layton game to arrive in the West either
Oooh! I see a Touch Detective game in there!
I hope it makes it to NA... Touch Detective games are my favorite.
I hope on the next Nintendo Direct that Nintendo make a deal to Square Enix about a Bravely Default NA localization. I hate waiting for an awesome game I want that I couldn't officially get.
@luminalace They haven't even realeased the Monster Hunter 3 ultimate for North America and now they have a Monster Hunter 4, that makes me kinda annoyed.
