Originally set for a worldwide release across the space of a week, Sony have had to reduce shipments to Japan and America and hold back on the European release for another 4 months.
People in the PAL territories are not the only ones affected, Sony's estimated PS3 launch shipping figures for America are now only 400,000 and only 100,000 for Japan. Despite this reduction, Sony are still confident at reaching their predicted 6 million shipped units by March 2007.
Hopefully the Wii will benefit from Sony's absence this Christmas and maybe, with the extra time granted by this delay, the PS3 will have a decent game ready for it's UK launch...

This will probably be both a boost for the 360 and Wii over in Europe, a shame to hear that Europe is still the bitch of the gaming world.
