As you explore Splatoon Raiders' Spirhalite Islands, there's every chance that you'll stumble across a blue compass. These collectibles point you in the direction of some bonus levels, but they can be a little tricky to understand at first.

In this guide, we'll explain how to use blue compasses and where to look for them.

How To Use Blue Compasses

Blue compasses are a little more fiddly than their orange and yellow counterparts, though they are easy enough to read once you get your head around the technique.

These compasses only respond when you are moving the map marker in the right direction, and will quickly switch off when you've gone too far.

To start, move the marker in all four major directions and see if the compass lights up blue for any of them. If it does, hold the stick gently in that direction, and keep moving until the blue light disappears. From the point where it stopped responding, try moving up or down and repeat the process if it fills up blue.

Continue to alternate between directions, stopping whenever the blue colouring disappears, and keep an eye out for the 'Press A' prompt when you hit the unlockable island. Like all compasses, the final unlock requires some precision, so be patient and be sure to only make small movements when you're close.

Where To Find Compasses

Compasses can be found in dark blue crates in all relic hunting and crystal levels (marked on the map by a yellow chest icon and a blue crystal, respectively), and in select dungeons after you have rolled credits on the main game.

These crates are usually a little off the beaten track, so keep an eye out for any hidden corners, high platforms, or alternate pathways as you make your way through the level.

You can see every level where you've missed a compass by pressing 'ZL' on the map screen and looking in each level's left column on the first tab. If the compass icon doesn't have a tick in it, there's still a blue crate waiting for you there.

What Do Compasses Unlock?

Compasses unlock special Sampler Dungeon levels, where you'll have to complete a challenge with a preset loadout (often without a main weapon) to introduce you to the game's gadgets.

These levels are similar to Splatoon 3's single-player campaign, and provide some of the most creative puzzles in the game, so it's well worth picking up a compass whenever you can.

How Many Compasses Are In Splatoon Raiders?

There are 24 compasses in total in Splatoon Raiders. You can find 21 of these in the main game, and you'll have to come back for one of the post-credits challenges to get the last three.
