Hello, Because I couldn't find any useful information about that on the internet so I ask here. Is it a good idea to play GC games on Wii? I wonder if playing experience differs somehow? Is it like playing on real GC or like playing on GC emulator? I'd like to play Zelda Windwaker and don't know what to do: play on Wii or buy GameCube and play on it?
I still have a GameCube in a separate room from the Wii, so I still play the Cube games on the Cube. Truth is, since you plug in a Cube controller, there is no difference whatsoever.
Playing Gamecube games on the Wii is exactly the same as playing them on the Gamecube.
The only reason at this point to get a Gamecube would be if you grew up playing one and are therefore a nostalgia fan OR for the GBA peripheral you can buy for the Gamecube that allows you to play GBA games on your TV.
If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.
I use the Wii always even though the GCN is sitting right next to it, the main reason being that, well... my Wii has Component cables which I never acquired for my 'Cube.
There is no difference whatsoever however though you might want to look into getting a Gamecube since they are pretty cheap now and if you are going to get rid of your Wii for the Wii U since the Wii U wont have GC playback ability.
If you do plan on playing Gamecube games on the Wii you are going to have to make sure you have a GC memory card and a GC controller if you dont have them already. You wont be able to save GC games to the Wii memory. If you need a controller I suggest picking up a Wavebird wireless controller for playing on the Wii makes it so much easier than the wired controllers especially if you have the Wii standing up on its side.

Even if I end up getting a Wii U in the future, I'm keeping my Wii for the GC support Same reason I'm keeping my PS2 when I get a PS3, to play my PS1 discs XD
Why do astronauts backtrack? They forgot the Space Jump Boots.
yeah it's PS2 disks that the current PS3s won't play (original run had PS2 chips in them to play everything but they were too cheap to keep doing that)
Anyway, to the original question, I've done both, there's no difference at ALL (aside from the 5 second intro), you mentioned Wind Waker, the Wii is compatible with all accessories Wind Waker uses (ie the Tingle Tuner), and in short all GC accessories that use the controller ports as well, experience is exactly the same in my opinion, as stated before the only reason to buy a GC is if you're ditching your Wii once the Wii U hits (which I personally won't be doing)
I believe Game Cube would be the better choice in the long run. All the consoles this gen seem to be breaking down faster than ever before (except for the PlayStation, they've had a long tradition of breaking down since 1994). I'd bet the Game Cube will out live the Wii, and since the Wii U won't play GC games, go with the Game Cube. They're only $25 used right now.

That actually is a good point, my Wii (which I bought new in May of 07) had a problem with the disk drive going bad about a year or two ago, and I had to ship it off to get fixed, first it stopped playing GC games, then stopped playing games altogether.
Now, my GC, which I got used to begin with in 04, is still going strong, not a problem in the world with her

Acutally, I think the Wii is NOT compatible with the Tingle Tuner. Since I'm pretty sure the Tingle Tuner required the GBA connecter thing, which the Wii isn't compatible with. But, if you don't care about the Tingle Tuner, then just keep your Wii. Don't waste your money on a Cube.

if the accessory plugs into a controller port, it IS compatible, because it completely emulated GC functionality where the controller ports are concerned, taken from the wikipedia article on the Wii's backwards compatibility:
"The console therefore retains connectivity with the Game Boy Advance and e-Reader through the Game Boy Advance Cable, which is used in the same manner as it was used with the GameCube."
