Oh lordy that sucks, at least Objection_Blaster they repaired it. Seriously though in the future Nintendo should let every wii-owner upload Their wii accounts and upload game data/file, channels...ect on the Nintendo servers. For the nintendo Wifi games, nintendo should you also upload those on the server also to prevent problems like yours.
Go ahead and look and feel free to express interest here or in the trading thread. just note, that they may or may not be up unless i say so in the trading forum.

no i meant what the hell costs 900, instead of 800 or 1000? I was just messing with you. I'm kinda interested in a few SNES games on VC, but not sure that'd be worth a Wii game. again, go to trading thread for that kinda stuff.

lol, thanks, Mickeymac. But I'm still not giving you Muramasa. edit: also, technically, including shipping, the cheapest copies there were still about $14.

Well, I'm now going to backup as much of my save data as possible before I download any more updates, although I've already been backing up Lego Harry Potter due to the game-breaking glitches I've heard about in that game.
Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.
Hi there OB, I'm new to Nintendo Life and also a fairly new Wii owner. I've been quite lax about backing up my save game data up until now, but reading your story and all the replies here I will be more vigilant from now on. Thanks for sharing what happened to you. It is a timely reminder for all of us. And thanks also for introducing me to the Backloggery, I hadn't heard of that before reading your thread here. Unfortunately registrations are closed there at the moment, but I will be registering there as soon as I can.
Also, here's a shoutout to killer6370. Thanks for sharing that link to wiisave. It looks like a great idea, and I will no doubt be making use of it.
@augur-well if anything good comes of this tragedy (besides realizing i should sell some games and a reason to go through others) its that others might be more vigilante now, i know i will be.
as for BL, registrations will open once the site revamp is finsihed but I have no idea when thats gonna be, they failed to make their goal by two months so far with no new target date in sight.

This happened with me 2 times. Not because of an update, but (I think) it was because I used my Wii too much. So, yeah, I lost all my save data 2 times. The 2nd time was the worst: I had to pay for the replacement, and my Wii Shop Channel Account wasn't transferred (lost €250,- in Wii Points). After discussing and stuff, I finally got those 25000 Wii Points back, but it was certainly not easy.
So yeah, I know how it feels to have 30 MKWii Friends, 30 Brawl Friends, 50 Wii Friends and all save data (of online games) deleted. It is horrible.
That sucks. A few months ago my brother wiped all my save data just because I wouldn't take him to some stupid movie. At first it sucked that I had lost all that effort, but then I realized I had a purpose to finish my games again.
Battery-based games tend to last longer than HDs for some reason though. IDK, I both agree and disagree.

...So, why can't Brawl and Tri be saved onto an SD card?
Wi-Fi games cannot be backed up in order to prevent two or more Wiis from going online with the same FC data (and consequently disrupting the servers). That's my hypothesis anyway.
Porygon did nothing wrong.

I feel for you man. My Wii started displaying the error message "The system files are corrupted , please refer to the Wii Operations Manual for help." sometimes when I'd turn it on, or If I went from a Game to the Wii menu. It happened rarely at first, but started happening more and more often. I started backing up saves routinely out of fear my Wii was going to die at some point. Eventually it'd only come on about once every ten times. I finally decided to send it off to be fixed, which cost me $75. The person on the phone acted like the people at these repair centers have much tools for recovering data that are much better than mine. (An SD card =P) So I send it off.
I get back, it's been wiped clean. _
I had to spend about 45mins on phone debating customer reps to get a refund. I eventually talked them into it by harping on the fact I was able to backup a lot of my own saves, the same day I sent it to be fixed. If I managed to get most of my data off just by turning it off and on a bunch, then why weren't the repair techs able to do anything? =P
It sucked, I actually had got 100% on Brawl. (Had to redo that Boss Rush mode about 100 times before I lucked up and limped through it with the Pokemon Trainer.) Still it was an excellent reminder that nothing lasts forever, so I was okay. (Seeing as I did get my refund.)
Then I started getting the error message again. =P
Lately, my Wii has been saying "The system files are corrupted blah blah blah" so I turned the wii off. Once i turned it back on, it's fine. Any ideas why it says that sometimes?
likely because your files are starting to become corrupt and the Wii is sometimes able to translate them back to what they need to be and sometimes not. Backup what you can and call a Nintendo Rep ASAP, make sure to record any error code #s you're getting.
