Topic: Ironclad Progressive Scan Problem

Looks like the released a very borked version of the game, sadly enough. Whenever I start the game, I can hear all the sounds going on but see absolutely no visuals unless I hit the Home button. Once I hit it again and am back in the game, the screen goes completely black again. So, a word to all HDTV progressive scan TV owners: For the time being, it would appear Ironclad will not function properly on progressive scan displays.

As an aside, I tried switching my Wii's display capability from HDTV (480p) to Standard TV (480i) and it made absolutely no difference. The game is still pitch black. Here's hoping Nintendo gets on fixing this soon.

I do not own this game but, Are you sure you checked your Wii settings? I had this same problem happen with some virtual console games in the past and it turned out i had my settings wrong so i checked them and i needed to make sure it was set to EDTV (480p) and then this problem stopped happening to me, im not completly sure if the widescreen settings needed to be adjusted either. So make sure those settings are correct.

Oh yeah, my settings are pitch-perfect. I own 130 Virtual Console games so I'm definitely not new to this. This is definitely a first for a VC game for me; I've even tried booting up a bunch of other random VC games, including Turbo Duo games and they are all working just fine, visually. This problem with Ironclad is quite upsetting...

Aviator

Button combination to make it work is somewhere in the Operations Manual.

And can you go a little faster?!

Yeah, like Aviator says there's a magic button combination as a workaround.

My solution is to have a tv that displays interlaced resolutions over component.

Ah, okay. Thanks much to both of you, Aviator and Sean. It would appear going into the Operations Guide of the game and pressing Z + A + 2 fixes the problem. That's a bit frustrating that such a problem exists but at least it's easily fixable once you understand it. Thanks much, guys!

You're much better off than Europe where the game is running in 50Hz despite being advertised as 60Hz - no workaround for that!

Interesting update on that. A regular at VC-forums complained about this misleading statement (since removed) and has had his points refunded by Nintendo Europe. After the Last Ninja 3 debacle, Nintendo really does need to begin toughening up its quality control.

Sadly, that particular solution isn't what people really wanted - they wanted it running in 60Hz!

Agree. I've drawn attention to it and the ongoing MegaDrive issue in my 60hz Talking Point article. Just waiting for the power's that be to publish it
