Topic: Gamecube Zeldas on Wii

The only two main-series console Zelda games that have not been specifically released on Wii are Wind Waker and Four Swords Adventures. I would love to see these games get a re-release on Wii possibly as part of the New Play Control series or in a sort of collectors' edition package.

With the upcoming release of Skyward Sword, do you think it's likely that Nintendo will re-release these two games in some way? It would be really cool to have the whole series playable on Wii (I know the Gamecube discs can be played on Wii but I think it would be better from a collector's perspective to have a Wii-specific release).

New Play Control is dead. And why would they even waste their time when the Wii can play Gamecube games? It's pointless.

It's not a waste of time for Nintendo since they would make a lot of money with minimal effort. It's not pointless for me since I would have fun playing the games and don't want to track down the Gamecube discs or Gamecube memory cards.

Nintendo is known for re-releasing their products and, right or wrong, I am one of the millions who likes to buy these re-releases.

It's not impossible. Wind Waker was supported with a pre-order only disc that included a bunch of previous console Zeldas.

I personally don't think it's likely (maybe in another generation), but it's not without precedent.

I don't see it happening either, but I don't know of any Nintendo published games for wii coming out this year besides Skyward Sword. They need to fill their release schedule with something. /crosses fingers NPC Pikmin 2 will release in NA.

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.

Not only have they done this before but I'm sure they have enough green.

Why not just play them on the GameCube or the GameCube game on your Wii? Is it that much trouble to find your memory card(s)?

You and me both but Nintendo isn't known for re-releasing every game.

So you want Nintendo to cash in and take the fans for a ride? Nintendo rereleased games too often already...and doesn't give us the series we love as often. The 3D is launching soon and what do we get a rerelease update of Ocarina of Time, a original Zelda I guess would be too much work...

Send me the best you've got. Send me your strongest machines. The fight my brother fought, here, now, will end with me.

I would gladly pay $30 for Wind Waker with Twilight Princess controls (IR pointer for arrows, etc.). Yes Nintendo would be cashing in, but I wouldn't say that constitutes taking fans for a ride.

As Chrono Cross stated there hasnt been a New Play Control game released in a long time. Also I dont think Nintendo will re-release any GC games for the Wii since its has the backwards compatibility.

Anyway if you have anymore ideas for Wii games you can use this already made thread for your wishes or ideas.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat, Pikmin, Mario Power Tennis, Metroid Prime, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, Pikmin 2, and Chibi-Robo! all say "Hi."

I really dont count Twilight Princess since that came out for both the Wii and GC at the same time so it was really a remake.

But it was made for GCN, then they put it onto Wii.

But thats not a remake, and the GC version came out a month after the Wii version. Thats like saying the PS3 and Xbox version of NBA Jam is a re-release of the Wii version or any other game that comes out on multiple platforms in that case.

I don't believe we were talking about re-makes, re-releases, yes.

Ok whoops my bad I meant release instead of remakes. Correcting now.

A high def version of Wind Waker released on the next system after the Wii (which will probably be HD) would be pretty cool. Or better yet, a 3DS version of it.

You can grab Four Swords or Wind Waker for $9.99 a piece at game specialty stores or always nab a copy online. The memory card thing is a valid complaint though, Nintendo would be wise to make those "virtual" memory cards like PS3 does for PS1 and PS2.

I'd rather see them re-released next gen or next-next gen, when they're actually hard to find. They could also improve the visuals to HD, since Nintendo plans to support that with their next console.

I thought you couldn't play PS1 and PS2 games on PS3.

You can play PS1 games on any PS3 console, the original disk or a downloadable copy. PS2 is also playable on certain models but they removed support (the slim model doesn't have it). There are rumors of PS2 support coming for other models, but it's questionable.

You can create memory cards using the system's internal space, which is where my idea for Nintendo using that with GameCube games came from.

Nope, recently bought it in Amazon.com. Will play it as soon as I finish Excitebots (must get all the vehicles). However, lately I've been too busy playing other games to earn more stars.
