Smash's newsfeed says that Lucina is a newcomer. Why is everyone saying she's Marth alternate skin?

There is no such thing as a "wasted character slot" because character slots are not a finite resource. There could be 200 characters in the game if Sakurai wanted.

All I can load of the smash page is the updates... It says Robin and lucina are new characters! I'm wondering how many characters this game will have?

If you can't load the Smash site, when you click on Lucina's page, it says "NEWCOMER".

I'm guessing the game gets 45 characters if u count mii as one. Include Ness, Lucas, Mr.Game and Watch, Wario, Rob, Gannondorf, Jiggalypuff, and 2 newcomers, you get 45.

Lucina is her own standalone character. She has her own slot and, though it's not a big banner, still has "Newcomer" on it.

But she is a Marth clone through and through. Pretty much a carbon copy from what we can see.

I think we should all play as the character ourselves before labeling any of them clones. The move customization process could really change things up.

On the japanese site her banner is just as big as the other newcomers, she just doesn't have her own poster.

Did anyone notice in robins screen shot bunch that he uses a different sword compared to the trailer?

Edit: ya that gematsu leak is looking a bit fake right now. They said chrom would be a character. He's in the game, but he's not a playable.
