Seeing how Nintendo is handling the Wii U is really sad. The 3ds has a direct and nothing about the Wii U at all. What makes it worst is that when the April update does happen I have a feeling it will just be about application speeds. The OS has much more issues to sort out also.

What sort of issues then? I only notice the long loading times...

Frequent freeze ups & the rudementary voice chat feature are the two issues I like to point out. Nintendo should have fix this problems long ago but did nothing, so I expect them to fix this issues on the April update. It's frustrating to see Nintendo doing more on the 3DS when they should concentrate more on promoting their newest product - the Wii U. The 3DS had a very long & successful run. It's time for Nintendo to do more on the Wii U.

Well, my Wii U never froze since I got it on launch day, but I'm sure that will be fixed in the update. And for Wii U chat, I never use that... So, yeah...

Why can't NoA just do a combined 3DS/Wii U Direct on Wednesday? And what happened to the update anyway. I wish the Miiverse team ran the whole software division (3DS and Wii U), then Nintendo would defiantly be on top in terms of software, right?

Have you guys seen the Nintendo Direct already? If you have, let me in on your secret. The Direct is said to be "focused" on the 3DS- that leaves room for some Wii U stuff. Wait until you watch it until you start counting your chickens.

Feezing Issues
Long load times
basic features separated by applications - Why should I open an application to see my friends list? When I press the home button, a friends list should be on the game pad and I should be able to message, join game, add friends, accept friend request, face chat, etc
Allow us to install a games to the hard drive
System notification, not the dumb blinking home button
Creating parties with party chat
Why in the world is the screenshot from a game smaller on the gamepad screen?

Well you're totally right for except one thing. If you could install a disc game to USB, than you could buy a game, install it to USB and bring it back to the store. So that would be pretty dumb...

You can't put in status updates of the console itself without the games.

Was Mariobro4. No, I'm not taking off my backpack...it's important.

Well you're totally right for except one thing. If you could install a disc game to USB, than you could buy a game, install it to USB and bring it back to the store. So that would be pretty dumb...

It wouldn't work that way. Do it the same as the x360. Put in the game and install to hard drive now every time you want to play the game, the system makes sure the correct disc is in the drive and checks it every minute or so. It cuts down on the wear and tear of the disc drive and loads times would be so much better.

It actually feels like Nintendo never touched a PS3 or Xbox360. How can you release a system that does not have nearly the amount of features of the other 2 systems? So Nintendo has to complete with last gen features and current gen features. The only thing Nintendo is doing right is Miiverse but they are forgetting about basic features like what I posted above and more. I love Nintendo and I am happy I bought the system but honestly it surprises me how stubborn they are.

I am fine with the specs, I think we need a low cost system with a different control scheme instead of a me too system like the other two. There is no way I would spend 500 + on a system. 350 was bad enough for me, I have a wife Honestly I think E3 is too late to start showing great games. They need to get as many customers as possible now before MS and Sony's marketing trains hit cause no matter what Nintendo does, it is going to get over shadowed. They could weather through the hype then pile on more games.

You pretty much hit it on the money right there.
For those you never own a 360, wouldn't understand the point of instaling the game disc into the console.
It makes the game run faster, cuts down on loading time, and keeps your console's disc drive stress free, and last longer.

It is kinda sad that Nintendo are sill far behind, and there is no update that can really fix the problems that the Wii U has, with out making a new console.
Lets see how loyal can their fans stay, untill they move up to a real "Next gen" console.

For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday.

I don't think installing a game should be that big of a deal. I understand it made some games run faster and overall cut down on disc drive failure, but PS3 didn't give that option for all it's games like Xbox 360 games. Also, PS3 FORCED you to install games to a certain extent.
All we can do is hope Nintendo actually made a great disc drive that won't break, which I think they did. I play the games digitally, so it doesn't matter as much since there isn't a disc at all anyway.
I heard Xbox 1080 is going to install the disc so you don't even have to use the disc. Then you can transfer the validation code back to the disc when you are done and want to trade/sell it.

EDIT: @LordJumpMad
You do understand your second paragraph was completely false, right? That is a complete opinion. The whole point of the updates is to fix issues. It doesn't even sound like you've ever played a last gen console with the attitude you have towards Wii U. I know for a fact Xbox 360 and PS3 have had countless updates during their lifetime, and PS3 still does to this very day.
Nintendo is not behind, they are ahead, but not by much considering the other consoles aren't even out yet.
I'm getting an Xbox 1080, too, but hearing BS that you say on a regular basis is annoying. We don't need to hear your negative input on a console you don't have or care about. Say something positive for once, or GTFO.
Go to the PS forums. I'm sure you'll enjoy it there.

I don't think so. Depends on if you wanted a console with lots of power and ram and a gamepad with a capacitive OLED screen with range in which you can go to your local liquor store and play Mario and battery life that last 40 hr.

Other than that 90% of its issues are software based and can be changed easily with some dev time.

For me personally I don't care about the the power of the console and I love the gamepad. Yes more power and a better screen, etc would be great but what we got is fine. What the future holds could be a different story tho. A user friendly and feature rich OS is just behind great games for me and the Wii U is lacking in that department. Plus Nintendo needs to overcompensate in certain areas to compete with the other consoles like its software. It wouldn't be able to record video on the fly and have people watching your gameplay and that kinda stuff but it can still do a lot if Nintendo put some time into it. Miiverse is great.

I''m just putting it out there, and it's off topic, but why does what seems like half the topics these days turn into these kind of fights?

I personally have been explaining how Nintendo has released a next gen console, and that they aren't doomed since Wii U has been announced. All we get is stupid .gif pictures(some are ok), .jpeg, or thoughts about whatever that never make sense.
People seriously thought Wii U was worse than PS3 or Xbox 360 to begin with, and nothing can be done to help. Wii U IS better than last gen consoles, so it doesn't need as much help as some may think, and new consoles get updates and improve during their lifetime. This sort of thing is regular, but people forget every 5-6 years, apparently...
I just don't understand why anyone would come onto a Nintendo site to insult or comment on it's respective console that they don't have or care about with nothing good to say. It's annoying for the people that actually want to discuss possible improvements without just saying, 'doomed'.
Every journey begins with one step.

LOL To get you to blow up like that, dopey. Have you never heard "Don't Feed the Trolls"? You're single-handedly making some trolls on this site obese.

Why, though. Don't these people have better things to do with their time? I still say go to the PS or Xbox forums if that's what you like more. Wouldn't that be a better way to spend your time instead of trolling?

@SCAR don't get me wrong, I think the Wii U is next gen, blah blah whatever. But, you're arguing. ON THE INTERNET. THAT IS SOMETHING YOU DON'T DO! People over the Internet DON'T care what you're opinion is, DON'T care what points you bring up, and DON'T care what kind of "facts" you give.

Also, that's just what trolls do. It's like me saying the Wii U is the awesomest thing ever and explaining why I think so to a, say, Xbox fanboy. He/she doesn't care what I think because he/she doesn't see the way I do. Well, trolls like making people mad, even if YOU don't. Remember the rules of the Internet, one of them is "Don't argue with trolls. That means they win."
