I personally think so as their design phylisophy is closer to my own than other companies. Plus they make games I talk about for years to come. I sunk hours/days/months/years into Halo 2 but it rarely comes up in conversation these days. I still find myself talking about A Link to the Past and Super Metroid pretty often.
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

They are the most consistent. Problem is for me every sequel is even easier than the last and it is rare they put in enough content or do something new.

I don't really understand why people care about publishers. In the end, it's just a different logo on the cover. That's about it. It doesn't matter who publishes the game, what matters is who developed the game.
I was about to go in detail why they are a great game developer, until...déjà vu... I vaguely remember seeing discussions like this every single day...
"They played us like a damn fiddle!" - MGS5
"Finish your mission, prove your loyalty." - MGS3
"We could take a s*** on you from such a height, you'd think God himself has crapped on you!" - GTA: SA

That's the perfect question to ask on a site named NINTENDOLIFE. I'm sure you'll get a lot of nays...
In any case, I'll say no, they are not. Sony has them beat at the moment.
They are simply more in touch with what core gamers want. They are also going crazy on the indie front, publishing dozens upon dozens of truly promising — and exclusive — indie titles. So they win in terms of innovation, as well, without having to resort to annoying gimmicks (that no one really asked for).
How many top rated (subjective, I know, but it makes it easier) games has Sony themselves developed or published in the past 12 months? How about Nintendo?
Without looking, I would have to say it would be Nintendo by a wide margin based on what they have put out for both the 3DS/Wii U since last year.
Remember, we are only counting games that are published/developed by Sony. Things they personally had a hand in.

The Wii U released a year early. Your question makes no sense.
No he said "in the last year", not "on their current next gen console".
They definitely lead the way in many areas, it's just a shame they don't have a Rare to help them keep up with certain genres and they've not had a top end exclusive driving sim since ever.
I don't agree with the lack of variety argument because in one year they published, Wii Fit, Wii Sports, 3D Mario, Game and Wario, Pikmin, Lego City, W101, WWHD, Super Luigi U, Pokemon Rumble, Wii Party U, Mario and Sonic, Doctor Luigi and NES Remix on Wii U alone. I can't be bothered to add a 3DS list but that had a far better line up in 2013.
I only posted this to get my avatar as the forum's thumbnail.

Publisher actually matter a lot. The publisher has more say over the development of a game than the Developer does. The publisher also controls how much quality is in a product. If a publisher rushes a game to market there isn't much the developer can do. If a publisher makes the developer put a certain aspect into a game the developer can't say no. I have seen good games leave the developer's hands in bad conditions just so the publisher could release at a certain time. Publisher actually matter a lot.

Which is why they made Playstation Move and the Dualshock 4...oh wait...
Nintendo has a vast quantity of successful franchises that usually get great reviews and sales data. I can't really think of any other company that can top this...even Sony and Sega didn't make this much

It still makes no sense, the Wii U had a huge drought during its first year, which is understandable and expectable. The PS4 isn't even a year old, wait for Sony to actually finish its projects (Uncharted, Bloodborne, Tearaway, LittleBigPlanet, The Order, Until Dawn, etc.) then we'll talk.
Also, here's a fact that's gonna sting: Sony continues to support the PS3 by releasing awesome titles for it even today — not gonna bother listing which ones — Nintendo has stopped supporting the Wii years ago.
Learn to read.
We are talking Sony vs Nintendo, not Wii U vs PS4.
Nintendo has, as a whole, released a higher number of quality titles on the Wii U and 3DS than Sony has on the Vita/PS3/PS4 in the past year.
Remember, this is not counting third party releases on Sony or indie releases. The question was games that are "developed or published by", meaning they were created/developed by Nintendo/Sony themselves, or that Nintendo/Sony funded it's creation and published it.
Also, why won't you bother listing the awesome titles that Sony has developed or published on the PS3 in the past year? It should be easy, no?
I usually agree with you on some things Hernandez, but this time you are way off base in your attempts to hate on Nintendo.

OUCH IT STINGS SO MUCH!
Who cares that they're also releasing games on PS3, that just shows there isn't that much of a technology leap between generations, it's not like their consistently producing new games just for it.
Not only that, but Sony doesn't have to release as many titles as Nintendo, because it has superior third-party support. In other words, it doesnt' have to fill the gaps in genres that are sorely lacking, like Nintendo does.
So in other words they don't create or publish as many titles themselves....resulting in the fact that Nintendo is the greatest developer/publisher today?

So what? We're judging who's the better developer/publisher, just because Sony doesn't have to release as many games doesn't mean that somehow makes them any better of a game-making company. Quit coming up with excuses, they simply aren't as good.
