I blame the interviewers. They could have asked questions regarding the combat mechanics, changes of ui, anything that was not already explained or not common sense.
Are there any major changes in the flow of combat?
Yeah that's just how promotional interviews are, but he basically stated that it's the same combat system with additions.
I saw that the hunter chops the monster in the head in one instance when mounted and in another, he jumps to its back. What's up with that?
Hunters can move along the monster's body while mounted now to specifically attack different parts. I assume the difference is just movement inputs.
I may end up doing a 180 on this game faster than people spun around for Mario Kingdom Battle.
Everything sounds legit. Just got done reading the whole twitter feed and...Holy cow. Not open world, it's still areas just without segments. That was a turning point reading that. That's when I realized it's almost certainly legit (if it wasn't it would be open world for the sake of it). Now I feel bad for Nintendo, and me for not getting this game on Switch. Seems they screwed the pooch BIG time. I know a new game will surely come to the system but, this is what I can see here and now, and that's a long ways off. And probably won't even come west now anyways. Which means.... they may have just lost MH in the west. Ughh. I'm both thrilled and heartbroken at the same time.

IF Switch keeps selling like it does, IT will come to it, Japan and MH is all about portability, MH mainline games (the important ones) will come to Switch, and considering how much of a success it has been on 3DS, they will probably be localized too
I won't seed my money to Sony in this. Xbox One for me.

Compare the reveal trailer of World to the original concept trailer for 4. Notice anything? This is the same concept: Monsters chasing hunters between areas, climbing across large spaces to travel between regions, monsters sliding off of sloped areas, and monster vs monster combat.
Sorry for all the updates, but there's a ton of new info in Gaijinhunter's video, and it makes a good recap of everything I've been updating with so far. Also to be noted is how the great sword aerial charge is back with a new charge attack while mounted. The glow effect on the hunter is MUCH more subtle, almost FFXV-like. I like it a lot and can't wait to see how they change long sword! Maybe wispy strands of spiritual air!?
IGN's article contains even MORE stuff: Jose Otero (the host of their Nintendo podcast who actually plays MonHan) got to demo the game and wrote a pretty glowing preview. And according to Gaijinhunter's twitter the series is moving away from numbered installments like so many others these days. But more importantly hunters can change armor sets at base camps within a hunt. You can just switch weapons and skills like that!
That new video is what I needed. Looks really great and makes the game seem a lot more familiar, but new at the same time.
Looks exactly like MH now. Like gaijin Hunter pointed out, that reveal trailer just showed new stuff... and made the game seem so foreign but this new gameplay is dead on.
