@Late OK, I have been for a bit playing this game and looking at this thread, but now I am completely wondering what you do to solve all of these. Clearly by your post you have never played this game, and it is admittedly my third favorite game ever, but I thought this was by far the easiest first picture they have ever done. I have seen you get some of these on the first pic from some completely generic landscape that could be from 1,000 different games, but I can't think of one other game that today's first pic could be from, yet you got it from the generic hut of the second pic? Whether you just know all of these games or you Google stuff sometimes, I have no idea how the second pic gave this away but not the first (I guess that goes to you, too, @Bunkerneath since you also got it on the second pic).

Ah, dang it my first thought upon seeing the first one was "Makna Forest? Nah, too low quality to be sure but then I pressed skip and saw the Mechonis in the background." Disappointed in myself for not getting, being a massive fan of this series.
@Xyphon22 In this case, I wasn't sure what it was from the first picture because it's just a generic book with a small low resolution picture. I just put the first thing I always try when I don't know the game and there's fog, Silent Hill. The second image was way easier since it showed the actual game world and the metacritic score. I've watched maybe an hour of gameplay once (video was from Lucahjin who played Myst back when it came out and keeps bringing it up even in her latest videos, she's currently playing VLR which has some similarities) and seen plenty of images over the year. I was very confident in my guess at this point.
I don't Google stuff, unless I know the game and I've spent five minutes trying to think of the name. I usually remember it eventually but I once spent some time looking for Dandara from NL's list of Switch eShop games. I knew it was in one of Nintendo's indie presentations, I'd just forgotten its name. I scrolled through the list which only contains names, no images, and once I saw the name, I immediately put it as my answer.
As for how I recognize stuff in general, it helps when you have hundreds of games and keep up with new releases even if I'm not necessarily getting every game. If the site throws a Nintendo game at me, I'm very confident I can answer in couple of pictures. I'm also very familiar with indie games that have appeared on Nintendo consoles + older classics. As for PC, PS and Xbox, I know the big releases and some cult classics which already gets you pretty far.
I can give you a rundown of last 10 games and how I guessed them:
#374 - Art style, lighting, console. Tried another game from same developer before guessing the correct one. In hindsight, I think the other game was on a previous day.
#375 - Art style. If you've ever seen the game, you'll know.
#376 - Used to play this as a kid. Couldn't have been any other game.
#377 - Art style, color palette. Not that different looking city from one of the older games from the series which I have played. Recent, popular game.
#378 - Art style. Pretty recent. Knew of this game even before it came to Switch. Probably first heard of it in TDP podcast and later saw ProtonJon play it.
#379 - I recognized the main character, finally connected the dots when the character's name appears in the last picture. His name is in the game's title.
#380 - High metascore and instruments in the screenshot. I feel like the games, at least the ones in the same series, are ordered from most guessed to least guessed or something along those lines, so nowadays I usually pick the first one it lists me if I don't know better. Before I used to pick the first game in the series and/or the most well known game in the series first.
#381 - Color palette, textures, polygon count. I could basically hear the screenshot. Game's a classic.
#382 - Almost answered Rayman Legends because of the color palette. Recognized the place and answered the correct game instead. Finished this game last year for the first time.
#383 - The combination of almost perfect metacritic score, console and genre pretty much seals the deal. N64 doesn't have many games of this genre in the first place. I have the GBC game.

Yes! This was my first one I got in one try. I remember getting so frustrated trying to figure out what to do when it first came out, then going back years later and it all making complete sense. Amazing game.
Also just noticed I spoiled yesterday's answer by accident even though I tried to be extra careful to not spoil the other 10 games. Not that anyone cares about the previous days.
