Hear me out on this one guys. I was thinking about this last night had to share it with everyone. What if Nintendo brought out a third console (the firs two being Wii and DS). This third one would bring back the Game Boy name, it would be a platform strictly from GB, GBC, GBA games. It would something like 4 or 8 gigs for storage on the system, a web browser (for web site authentication), and a shop channel. Instead of getting DSiware like we do on the DSi, we would get old Game Boy series games like Street Fighter Alpha, Metroid series, DKC, Pokemon series, etc. What do you guys think?

I guess Nintendo can do VC for GB/GBA on the DSi, but did they recently say something like they weren't going to?

That would be awesome. They didn't publicly say it wasn't happening I don't think, some dude that works at Target said they Nintendo rep came to their store and told him it wasn't happening. That's all I've heard in the no camp.

Ah...so Nintendo outright never said they wouldn't. So there is a possibility that they might add that on to the DSi in the near future. But I think a dedicated platform of hundreds of games would be better in my opinion and they also add other old portable (Game Gear, Neo Geo Pocket, etc.) like they did with the Wii VC.

I don't see the point of this, it would just segment their market. Far better to offer the virtual console on DSi.

Personally, I'm hoping they put game boy titles up on the virtual console first (as in, on the Wii), and then expand that to DSi. Everyone wins; non-DSi owners (and people that would never buy the DSi) get a chance to buy classic Game Boy games (Metroid games, Pokemon, Rhythm Tengoku and the Art Series could be localized, Golden Sun, etc.) and DSi owners could get access to the better part of the existing virtual console. Best of all, they could easily link these accounts to share games, if not points. How nice would it be to be playing a game, exit to the Wii Menu, and automatically have that savestate wirelessly sent to your DSi, so that as soon as you plop down on the train or bus you can open it up and start right where you left off; and the reverse when you get back hom?
