@Oswinner Where, or in which app did you find that information for all the games you've played? When I look at the Nintendo Switch app, it just shows me the play hours for the 20 most recently played games.

So here's my 10 most played games according to the app:

1. Fire Emblem: Three Houses (400+ hours)
2. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 (250+ hours)
3. No Man's Sky (250+ hours)
4. Breath of the Wild (200+ hours)
5. Persona 5 Royal (200+ hours)
6. Tears of the Kingdom (150+ hours)
7. Fire Emblem Engage (100+ hours)
8. Xenoblade Chronicles 1 (100+ hours)
9. Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma (100+ hours)
10. Nier: Automata (100+ hours)

I already have over 90 hours in Cyberpunk 2077 and I'm not nearly done with my first playthrough yet, so it's probably gonna rise to the top 10.

Interesting topic, my top 10 are:

  1. Tears of the Kingdom (500+ hours)
  2. Breath of the Wild (400+ hours)
  3. Cyberpunk 2077 (250+ hours)
  4. No Man's Sky (200+ hours)
  5. Dragon Quest XI s (200+ hours)
  6. Minecraft (200+ hours)
  7. Xenoblade Chronicles 1 (150+ hours)
  8. Persona 5 Royal (150+ hours)
  9. Nier Automata (100+ hours)
  10. Yakuza 0 (100+ hours)

It's kind of scary and fascinating when you see how many hours you put into your hobby.

The 100+ hour category is even longer with titles like Persona 4 Golden, Skyrim, Final Fantasy X/X2, etc.

Arguing with stupid People is like playing Chess with a Pigeon. No matter how well you play Chess, the Pigeon will knock over all the pieces, poop on the board, and strut around as if it had won.

It's been about a year so I am updating my list. Only one new game made it to my top 10 this year, although Ball x Pit came very close.

Updated List (bold are new to the list, (+/-) is rank change, {*Y} is how many years of the 3 I have been tracking that the game has been on my top 10):

1. Animal Crossing New Horizons {3Y}
2. Super Mario Maker 2 {3Y}
3. Hello Kitty Island Adventure (+2) {1Y}
4. Piczle Cross: Story of Seasons (-1) {1Y}
5. Fantasy Life i
6. Picross-LogiartGrimoire {2Y}
7. Pokemon Violet (-3) {3Y}
8. Tetris 99 (-1) {3Y}
9. SNES NSO app {1Y}
10. Fitness Circuit (-2) {2Y}

Four of my top 10 have stayed on the list for the 3 years I've been keeping track. Animal Crossing, Mario Maker, and Hello Kitty are my only games with over 200 hours of gameplay so I doubt they will leave the top of the list anytime soon.

Since I made a new personal Nintendo account (had been using a family account for 3DS/Wii U/Switch), I only have the numbers for what I've played on Switch 2:

1. Mario Kart World (215 hours)
2. Hollow Knight: Silksong (90 hours... allegedly... in-game it says 80 hours)
3. Pokémon Legends: Z-A (90 hours)
4. Deltarune (80 hours between demo and full game)
5. Celeste (70 hours)
6. Kirby Air Riders (65 hours)
7. Donkey Kong Bananza (55 hours)
8. Hades II (45 hours)
9. Pokémon Shield (45 hours)
10. Pokémon Scarlet (40 hours)

My top 10: I really wish there was a way to view stuff like this from previous years on the console itself, but let's begin.
1: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: 225 hours or more
2: Pokémon Violet: 185 hours or more
3: Animal Crossing New Horizons: 150 hours or more
4: Pokémon Shield: exactly 100 hours or more (no longer on my play activity since I haven't played it in ages, but I still remember the number of hours played)
5: The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild: 95 hours or more
6: The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom: 85 hours or more (still playing this game, so it will probably pass at least botw and Pokémon Shield by the time I'm finished with it)
7: Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake: 80 hours or more
8: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: 70 hours or more
9: Super Mario Maker 2: 55 hours or more
10: Mario+Rabbids Sparks of Hope: 45 hours or more
All of my other games are 40 hours or less, since a lot of my games are single player games that have an ending to them.

Been a solid year since I last updated! Let's see how I've progressed since then: bold text means new addition (also, I'm going to remove BotW ((I never owned that one in the first place, I was just borrowing dad's copy, and it's been kicked off my play activity anyways 😂)) and Super Mario Maker 2, since I'm going to be selling off that one)

1. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: 250 hours or more
2. Animal Crossing New Horizons: 235 hours or more (😮)
3. Pokémon Violet: 190 hours or more
4. The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom: 110 hours or more
5. Pokémon Shield: 100 hours or more
6. Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake: 80 hours or more
7. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: 75 hours or more
8. Dragon Quest XI S Echoes of an Elusive Age Definitive Edition: 70 hours or more
9. Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope: 45 hours or more
10. Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth3 V GENERATION: 45 hours or more

I still play a lot of shorter games 😂 Gonna play some more longer ones in the future too. I also predict that Mario Kart World will join the podium the next time I share my report. I'm already at almost 20 hours in that one.

Edited to fix an error involving Pokémon Violet

Going to update my list now that we have more accurate activity rankings on the eShop app. The top 10 isn't too different from my post on the first page of this thread so I'll do a top 20 as it's a bit more interesting. There's a couple of games I wouldn't have expected to be in there, at the risk of sounding like a Buzzfeed headline.

1. Splatoon 2 - 170+ hours
2. Splatoon 3 - 160+
3. Tears of the Kingdom - 125+
4. Super Smash Bros Ultimate - 115+

I haven't had my Switch long enough to have a crazy amount of hours yet, but it's honestly interesting seeing everyone's lists.

I feel like the games with the highest playtime are usually not always the "best" games, but the ones you can keep coming back to. Stuff like Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, Smash, or even smaller games can quietly eat hundreds of hours 😂

I'm still building my backlog, but I'm curious which games people here started playing thinking "I'll just try it for a bit" and then somehow ended up putting way more time into than expected.

reginaldbelvarion

Pizzamorg

@reginaldbelvarion this is deffo true for me and my top game, I think I called Engage disappointing and mediocre when I first played it (or something like that) but it has become a game I just keep going back to, cause the core moment to moment gameplay and heavily paired back elements around it make it the ultimate mindless on the go, pick up and play, title for me.

Other games on that list are absolutely better games, but I know I'm going to have to properly carve out a bit my day to enjoy them, but if I have a spare half hour or something, I can just run an Engage skirmish and have some fun, and it has caused the playtime for it to slowly pull ahead of other games I might have either one and done, or don't dip my toe back into as often.
