Man, The Messenger is looking like another instant indie classic. Just watch the first 10 minutes. The dialogue in that shop is fantastic.

@Octane our internet recently went from 3mbs to 5mbs and it was heralded as a great leap. Not so much molasses as Dublin Pitch Drop.

I've had fibre since 1999... The lowest was 10 Mbps. City net ftw.

And I whine about my 30-60mbps depending on the moment....guess I'm a spoiled baby.

@Alikan Wow, and I'm waiting for Fiber to be activated here. 8mbps with DSL cable isn't lovely as it sometimes gets disconnection error.

Making promise is easy. The hard part is keeping it.

@Knuckles-Fajita
Yea, Blizz doesn't announce a date until they know that is absolutely the date. They take their sweet time UNTIL those announcements, though. That's been the case for the last 20ish years, at least.

The Diablo III announcement has checked a box off on a list of PS3/360 games I hope get ported to the Switch. With hundreds of games released on those platforms, it's tough to narrow the list down. But there are several I'd like to see that would make me exceedingly happy.

#1 Metal Gear Solid Collection - A portable version of Peacewalker with dual analog support would force me to insta-buy. #2 Borderlands Handsome Collection. #3 Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel trilogy. #4 Everything from Vanillaware (Dragon's Crown, Muramasa, etc). #5 BioShock The Collection.

It almost feels as though I want these games just to counterfeit the necessity to own a Vita, lol.

Switch Physical Collection - 1,560 games (as of April 14th, 2026)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 4 games (as of December 8th, 2025)

@Magician some solid choices there. I'd like to add to that list 1. Dragons Dogma 2. Lost Odyssey 3. Resident Evil 5+6 collection 4. Mass Effect Trilogy 5. Assassins Creed: Ezio Collection.

@Magician @bluemage1989 Can I add Chronicles of Riddick and Vanquish please.

Apologies if this has already been discussed on here, but apparently there are going to be some new game announcements during the opening ceremony of Gamescom 2018. Apparently Ubisoft, THQ Nordiq and Deep Silver will all have something to reveal as world premiers. I am not getting my hopes up expecting all the reveals to come to the Switch but with the recent acquisition of Time Splitters, a remaster of the first three games would be something that I could see being announced and there would be no reason such a trilogy couldn't run on the Switch, even with upgraded textures etc.

A lot of the PS3/360 games I'd want on Switch have already been deconfirmed (like any Tomb Raider games) or are originally from a different console (like Sonic Adventure 1+2, Castlevania SOTN).

@Grumblevolcano I can understand people's desires for ports of last generation games onto the Switch but I can also see why publishers/developers are not interested. The likelihood of seeing enough of a return is probably not enough to justify whatever resources would be required, even if only small. Dreamcast games or games from that generation of consoles would be awesome to see come over though. They are old enough to be considered retro in my opinion.

This is totally random, but there are a number of GameCube and Wii titles I wish to see upgraded into high definition for the Switch. Sitting at the top of my list is Super Mario Sunshine HD.

This is also going out on an entirely different limb, but I feel as if there has been a subtle pattern in the 3D titles and how they pertain to the 2D Mario titles. With the theory that I have devised, I am hoping that some form of Sunshine content or a Mario game that uses the same general design philosophies of Mario Sunshine is upcoming in a few years
-Mario 64 to Super Mario Bros: Revolutionary gameplay mechanics and clever take in their respective dimensions
-Sunshine to SMB2: As was the case for the 2D titles then, Sunshine also seemed to be viewed as divisive title. Underneath the critical reception though, were interesting and unique gameplay mechanics
-Galaxy to SMB3: Refined the revolutionary mechanics introduced in the original and even brought its own creative twists to the table
-Galaxy 2 to SMWorld: This is where I can find the most evidence pointing towards this theory of mine: Similar enemies to what originated in World, modernized music tracks, and of course Yoshi.
-Odyssey to 64: Open-ended and emphasis on exploration. Changed the overall objective for Mario whilst still maintaining the central philosophies and mechanics that have defined the franchise
-??? To Sunshine: ...Please?

@GrailUK good shout on Vanquish I'd completely forgotten about that one. I think the theoretical list of ports would probably end up being massive as in the time it's taken to write this comment I've also thought of Max Payne 3.

Grumblevolcano

@FragRed Well it's not just last gen that's a no but current gen too. Like there were 5 main Tomb Raider games on 360 (Legend, Anniversary, Underworld, 2013, RotTR), the last 2 were multi-gen releases yet Square's already confirmed no Tomb Raider for Switch. But in the end you'll always need Xbox/Playstation/PC for 3rd party games, I accepted that reality back in the Wii era.

Grumblevolcano

bluemage1989

@FireMario887 Id prefer to see Sunshine HD or Sunshine DLC for Odyssey than a new 3D Mario. A full blown 3D Mario would take up a lot of time and resources that could be better used for other more needed projects. I think Sunshine HD handled by the likes of Grezzo would be the best move.

@Grumblevolcano I would love to see both rebooted Tomb Raider games to come to the Switch, but I can't see the demand being that high unfortunately though Nintendo are certainly trying to change this with getting publishers like Bethesda and now Blizzard on board with games that are actually selling (I assume Diablo 3 will sell very well) so maybe in time games like Tomb Raider could come. Current generation games are a little trickier as I think it depends on how well optimised the game engines are for scaling.

Wonder if Vanquish can run at 60fps on Switch. Bayonetta 1 on PC can run on toasters and even that game has a bit of framerate dips on Switch at 720p. Vanquish is a more demanding game so I wonder if the Switch can handle it at 60fps. Definitely at 30fps since the PS3/360 did, but 60fps really makes Vanquish better.

I run a YouTube/Twitch channel for fun. Check me out if you want to!

This year has brought me good tidings and great joy, fa la la la la and all that.

I got portable Bayonetta 2 and DKC Tropical Freeze, 2 of my favorite games ever, a fantastic Mario Tennis game (finally), Octopath Traveller and YS VIII, Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate (hard to believe the console MH experience I enjoyed just a few years ago on Wii U is now surpassed in the palms of my hands, and brings it back to console from 240p handheld land), both South Park games, a brand new open world/space Starfox (eh ehm, I meant to say Starlink), Dark Souls and Dragonball Fighter Z in 1080p/720p on a portable device, Diablo 3 and Victor Vran and Titan Quest and Pillars of Eternity 2, The World Ends With You, Valkyria Chronicles 4, 20+ Mega Man games in HD handheld glory including a brand new entry, a new Sonic racer with Team Sonic Racing, the ultimate Smash Bros game, console Pokémon...

And so much more came besides. It's been an excellent year. Especially on the 3rd party front (see, I told you guys it would slowly ramp up this year, and it definitely has. All that moping about "no 3rd party games will come to Switch, maybe just 2 per year" was wasted breath. And it'll continue getting better into 2019.

Now, just give me Metroid Prime Trilogy Remastered and that'll seal the deal. Heck, even New Super Mario Bros U will be a sweet, delicious cherry on an already delectable cake. But I still want my Metroid. It's cool on the Win 2, for sure, but... Switch is dockable and has motion and instant sleep and screenshots and videos and all that. And soon, cloud saves.

@EvilLucario
I'm gonna guess that's a no.

I have Vanquish on my GPD Win 2, which is noticeably a bit more powerful of a handheld than Switch, and Vanquish runs at 30fps, which was quite a success story to get running that well I should add. Still, 30fps works.

Since THQ Nordic bought Koch Media (Deep Silver and others) earlier this year, I've been hoping for ports of Dead Island and Saints Row to the Switch. Gamescom would be a good opportunity for announcements like that. Maybe Darksiders I & II while they're at it? Biomutant? Rad Rodgers? ELEX?
