Topic: Nintendo OLED speaker hiss?

Hi,

anyone else experiencing this "audio hiss" issue on Switch OLED?

When you connect anything to the audio port, it stops. I don't have this issue with the non-OLED model or Switch lite.

Turning the volume up/down doesn't change the hissing noise louder or quieter, it stays constant. When playing with <= 50 % volume, the hiss is very distinct over the game audio.

@meerkat2 I think I've seen another person here mention the hiss. My oled doesn't make the hiss (Well, I have to put my ear right up to the speaker to hear a super faint hiss. But it leans toward being non-existent. I listened with volume up & down on home screen, and with a game loaded, Mario 3D All-Stars).

With handheld Nintendo consoles, there always seems to be some variation with production, often related to varying sources of parts. Example: Some Switch screens have cooler colors, or some have warmer colors. My 3ds had the inferior non-IPS screen, not the covetted IPS screen with great color, contrast, and viewing angle. I tried to find an IPS screen New 3DS XL but, never found one, kept what I had.

If you contact Nintendo, it's possible they may say your console is within spec. So, be ready for that, if you go that far.

If your console is brand new, you could potentially exchange it for a new one, but that would require you transferring all your stuff to the new console before you turn in your old hissing Switch. I don't know what the chances are you'll get another hissing OLED.

Have you tried hissing back?

Did they try the volume off and on stereo settings. I don't recall if they tried these options to see what happens.
