So today we saw previews for LM2, it's probably that for the rest of the week we see:

  • LM2 overview trailer (English version hasn't been uploaded)
  • More promotion of nearby 3rd party releases (e.g. SMTV Vengance, MH Stories) and already released games
  • Splatoon 3 Splatfest announcement of which the event takes place at the end of June (Splatfests are announced 2 weeks in advance)

Oh yeah, I forgot! Something else I want that's not happening alongside Tomodachi Life, Metroid Prime 2, or Rhythm Heaven! Pikmin 4, cave creator! Why is this not a thing yet, Nintendo?! >:c

Since we don't appear to be having a direct this week, I would love if the Direct was on June 19th because that's a holiday here so I would be able to actually watch it live. That would also be the same week/day of week as the June 2023 direct. That said, I'm not totally convinced it won't be the week after. Since Luigi Mansion trailers are being put out now it doesn't really seem like a problem if the direct is right next to the release date.

@Tayrailbridge

Metroid Prime 2 very plausible

Zelda remaster (which one is arguable) seems likely

Mario Wonder DLC maybe?

Sonic and Mario at the Olympics? It's been longer than usual and there is an Olympics coming up.

Kirby remaster or spinoff? Also about time for one since they come often.

Some games which already are announced but not by Nintendo will presumably be in the direct... like the new Sonic X Shadows game and maybe the new Life is Strange game.

Presumably Luigi's Mansion 2 will be mentioned again.

There is usually something from Square Enix.

Maybe more information on Nintendo World Championship NES?

It's the usual schedule for something Mario-Party related, but we've had a lot of Mario this year and the above game is already a party game so plausible, but not sure how likely.

You could always pick your least favorite square and put silksong 😝 Honestly the random Hollow Knight game trial is the only tangential evidence, but it's better than nothing!

@Novamii That's too pessimistic; they'll definitely be working on the third game by then.

@Tayrailbridge
Farming sim games are great choice for me.
Harvest Moon, Story of Seasons, Kitaria Fables, Paleo Pines, many more.

@Tayrailbridge Can you share your bingo square here before the direct? Maybe some other people will make alternate ones, that would be fun. I suppose we probably have a week before the direct is announced.

There were surprisingly few farming sims last direct but I agree there will almost certainly be at least one 😆

@FishyS I think Xbox owns the marketing exclusivity to Silksong at the moment. Wouldn't put it on any bingo cards.

Phil Spencer just announced that Microsoft were committed to bringing more games to the Switch, and we know what happened last time he said that just prior to a Nintendo Direct. That's not to say that it definitely will be Silksong, because that's always a dangerous call, but I wouldn't be categorically ruling it out.

While we're at it, Sony have a game heading to Switch in the shape of Lego Horizon Adventures. Can we all just bury the console war at this point?

@Matt_Barber I didn't say that Silksong was a Microsoft exclusive game. It's an indie game produced by Team Cherry. It is slated for every platform, but Microsoft retains the rights to market it given that companies are signing marketing deals with XBOX. It's why games like Metaphor Re:Fantazio are only shown during XBOX showcases or Atlus showcases- even though its slated to launch on PS5 and PC as well. They pay for the marketing rights in order to trick consumers into thinking that XBOX has exclusive titles when they don't.

As for the console wars comment, I don't really buy into the console wars in the first place. All I do is really call out companies on shady practices and point out that these companies have given us no real reasons to purchase their platforms. Sony and Microsoft believe that the concept of console exclusivity is an inherently bad business practice, and it's been shooting them in the foot. Not many people are buying an XBOX console or PS5, since most of the games that come out for both are also available on PC either day one, or a few months to a few years out. Many wait to purchase the games on PC because it's a more viable option- and you tend to often get the better version of the game anyways.

When watching that XBOX showcase the other day, I thought to myself that even though the games were cool- I had no reason to purchase their console. I could just either sub to Gamepass or buy the games when they all hit steam. Many friends I've had pretty much agree with me on that, with some even being fans of XBOX.

Nintendo is pretty much the one left standing due to their inability or lack of desire to "adapt" to the trends of current year. They still have the common sense to realize that if your console doesn't exactly have exclusive titles- then it basically means its DoA. People purchase gaming consoles for the games you can play on them. If you can play every game on every platform, then why not just have one platform? What's the point in competition if nothing unique is offered?

Definitely-Not-Leon

@FishyS @Tayrailbridge Normally I am always way too late for this, but since Nintendo announced their Direct early on this time and I noticed your comments, here is my (totally not subjective and definitely not unlikely ) Bingo-card (btw: on = out now | (s)r = (Switch)reveal | rd = release date(s) | dn = definitely not):

The Gecko Gods (on) | Metroid Prime 2 & 3 (rd) | Resident Evil Revelations 3 (dn) | Vokabulantis (rd) |
The War of Genesis: Remnants of Grey (rd) | Blade Chimera (on) | Sacrifire (rd) | Crowsworn (dn) |
Visions of Mana (sr) | The Perfect Pencil (on) | Oddventure (rd) | The Last Story (remaster) (r + rd) |
Zelda WW + TP (remaster) (rd) | A new Rayman (dn) | Scarlet Deer Inn (rd) | Metroid Prime 4 (r + rd)

I don't know if I will ever get Bingo with this card, but then again I do prefer dreaming above winning .

Gaming since the early nin(e)ties and probably will until death does me apart :) .
Looking forward till the day we can game with all of our senses.

So the next Among Us update was posted and then restricted because it's allegedly tied to it being shadow dropped during the next Direct on June 18th?

Switch Physical Collection - 1,537 games (as of December 22nd, 2025)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 4 games (as of December 8th, 2025)

I can't make my bingo card too easy or what's the point 😝 Who knows, maybe Microsoft and Nintendo will arrange something to announce the game at the same time.

Although I agree with your overall point with Xbox, I don't really for PlayStation. PlayStation has more exclusives than Xbox but also the sales are informative:

First 40 months of sales for each console (data from a couple months ago for PS5 since it is 43 months old as of today):

Switch: 59.88 (million)
PS4: 56.25
PS5: 55.47
3DS: 44.14
Xbox Series X|S: 28.04

Sure, Switch is winning, but PS5 is no slouch.

From a personal very biased point of view I only own Switch, but everytime I watch a PlayStation direct I am tempted to get one for the exclusives but I really am not at all when I watch an xbox direct.

As a relevant side point, these consoles are much cheaper than gaming PCs and some of the games we are talking about simply won't run well or at all on most people's PCs (including mine).

I bought PlayStation machines for 3rd party kids games.
And I found a lot of kids games choices from PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4, PS5, PSP, except PS VITA that looks terrible in my opinion.

This is the first NoA tweet of the day so Direct is now officially deconfirmed for this week.

@NinChocolate Well, as @Grumblevolcano said, it’s probably not this week as it wasn’t announced yet. That leaves the 18th and 20th the most likely options, although currently people are leaning on the 18th due to the Among Us trailer (that was accidentally posted then quickly taken down) supposedly happening that day (which could be at the Direct)

I was watching NL like a hawk on Mon-Tue, waiting to see news that the June Direct was scheduled for this week, but that bus seems to have left the station. Try again next week! This feeling is reminding me of last year, when the Direct came later in June than I expected.

I've got to admit, I'm a little impatient to see what they'll announce for the mystery void that is the 2nd half of 2024. Hopefully Switch Deux is indeed backward compatible, so its impending release doesn't create a game release desert. Though I could use some quiet months to lighten the backlog a little bit!

Anyone think the leaked new Turok game could be a Direct announcement? I swear at least one of the earlier N64 remasters was.
