Topic: Charging The Nintendo Switch

Got the skin for my Nintendo switch today. (Pooh bear themed) it fits on the switch nicely but the Nintendo switch doesn't want to fit in the charging dock now with the skin on it. Called GameStop. They said the Nintendo switch can still charge by unplugging the Nintendo switch cord from the dock & directly putting the cord in the system. I also noticed my phone charger for my phone can charge the Nintendo switch. Is it safe to use the phone charger? Or do I need to buy a regular wall charger? Just curious. @Barbiegurl777 I've used a phone charger in the past and haven't ever run into any battery problems. The only downside to it would be that the charging speed would be slower than an official Nintendo charger, but other than that there should be no risks or anything.

@Barbiegurl777 You can just take the power adapter from the dock and plug that directly into your Switch

I was reading different things on YouTube. People were saying about the phone charger bricking the system. It won't actually do that. Would it? I thought that only happens if a game system is region locked but the Nintendo switch is region free. 🤔🤷‍♀️✌️

I think that's what I'm going to do. Besides the guy from game stop said it only needs to be plugged in to the dock if playing on the big screen. I don't see why personally if it's only a charger but go figure. 🤷‍♀️🤣✌️

@Barbiegurl777 I've used my phone charger many times before and have never run into any issues. I'm not a professional on the subject, but that's my experience at least.

As to safe or not that is up to you-recommended is to use the charger that came with the Switch. So unless the 3rd party can say or verify it works for Switch that's something you choose. Also look at the ratings on the plug I'd there is none I wouldn't use it. It should match at least the OEM rating if you want to use it. But using 3rd party charger is something you must decide.
