Just picked this up. Haven't started playing yet, gotta finish up a couple things in I am Setsuna first. But should be ready to give it a go this weekend.
For anyone interested, this game is currently on sale on the Nintendo Store which is what brought me here. I’ve taken the plunge - looking forward to seeing if it matches my expectations.
To be honest, I'm struggling to get into it. I'll keep at it till Octopath is released, but probably won't get close to finishing it. Something just isn't clicking with me.
@ColePhelps1942 I hope you enjoy it. It's a bit of a slow starter, which is maybe why @mack73 has trouble getting into it (?), but if you give it an honest try and invest some real time into it, you'll find it's actually quite the gem. And the music is absolutely beautiful, and gets better with every new area you open. Here's the entire official soundtrack, to give you an idea: https://snowcastlegames.bandcamp.com/releases
I can also heartily recommend YouTuber BigSweetC's videos concerning this game.
@mack73 I actually have the opposite problem that you have: once I start playing, I can't stop. I've already sunk many hours into upgrading characters, finding secrets and discovering the world. In the beginning it can be a bit of an uphill battle, but once your characters gain a bit more strength, the game really comes into its own.

@ThanosReXXX This is a cracking response, thank you very much. I am keen to get started on it but I want to give it the time it deserves so planning to wait until the weekend. I’ve read reviews that liken it to Final Fantasy IX which I would love to be true - it is one of my favourite games of all time.
And do be sure to check out those Earthlock tips videos: they really are of considerable help with progressing through the game, especially with the tougher enemies and end bosses, of which there are quite a few. You do have to remember that you can't use/find all that is mentioned in these videos right away, so you'll have to make some progress first, so you can travel back and forth. (quick travel becomes available at a certain point)
As for likening it to Final Fantasy: haven't played much of those after the SNES, so I wouldn't be able to tell, but from my own experience, this game is a very good mix of a Western game, with plenty of jRPG elements and influences, so more or less like the best of both worlds. It may not immediately grab everyone in the beginning, but if you stick with it for a bit longer, you'll find that it'll grow on you.
I can very easily recommend this game to any fan of the genre. Won't go so far as to say that it is an absolute must-have, but so far, I myself am having a great time with it, even though some of the bosses are infuriatingly hard to beat, so some shuffling of characters will be required at times, to make sure that you'll come out on top.

@ThanosReXXX
Btw, have you ever contact with Snowcastle on their Twitter about considering the Physical release for Nintendo Switch version ?
The game has been released in Physical media for PC, PS4 & Xbox1 version, so i think it will be Fair if Switch got the Physical media too.

The wicked die alone...
Have been playing this one. Good game and as someone else said once you start playing hard to put down. One thing to keep in mind is there may be some spots where you will need to grind a little to level up enough to get past some spots. Just like old school RPGs.
@ThanosReXXX I finally got round to playing this yesterday and I was very impressed. The art style is great and I think the battling system is well-balanced: easy enough to pick up and play and not too simple that it becomes boring. Very happy to have picked this up - thanks for all your recommendations.
@ColePhelps1942 No problem, glad you're enjoying it. Would have been kind of a bummer if you wouldn't have liked it. But luckily, no damage to my recommendation record so far...
I do hope you've got some spare patience left, though: that Burning Desert part even got me kind of annoyed, and I'm a VERY relaxed person. Without a guide, it is almost impossible to find your way through, so those playthrough videos I linked to, really come in handy... EDIT:
The Burning Desert solution is part five of the video playthroughs, by the way. Just in case you also get stuck there...
