I was curious if anyone knew roughly how well games like skyrim and doom did on the switch so far?
As I was Intrested to see how well they did but can’t find anything? Usually companies say they sold well, and skyrim and doom were in the top ten sold for a long time but nothing been said by the dev that I know of?

I distinctly remember a Gamexplain video bringing up at one point that Skyrim had sold over 200,000 in the holiday season (or some period of time during the holiday season) and I know Doom did worse than Skyrim.

@kkslider5552000 really? How was it in the top 5 for so long if that’s all it sold do you think?
I’ve not heard bethseda say anything but it would be interesting because surely those sales would affect future games?

i dunno, dude, I'm just putting out what I do know (which itself is just vaguely remembering what I heard in a video once)

Based on the little data we have, it's safe to assume that Doom and Skyrim have sold at least 100,000 units each. It's also likely that Doom is hovering around that number, perhaps a little past it, while Skyrim has passed it dramatically. I wouldn't be surprised if Doom has sold around 150,000 while Skyrim passed 300,000 or maybe even more.

Mario Galaxy is ten years old, and now I feel old.

For the average gamer, Doom and Skyrim are double dips. They were huge games, so many people have already played them. The sales that we have here are people who want that portable factor or the minority who haven't played the, but want to. I don't think anyone expect huge sales for them.

So based on the numbers you guys have mentioned would you say it’s been a failure? Those numbers seem really low?

Neither would likely be considered a failure, unless Bethesda has profoundly stupid assumptions of how well a port of a year+ (in the case of Skyrim, 6 years) game on a console with a different audience should sell in a short timespan.

I would be a little concerned about Doom, but...say it with me now...

STREET FIGHTER 2 FOR 40 BUCKS IN 2017 SOLD 400,000 COPIES IN LIKE A MONTH. So it's my general assumption to be optimistic about 3rd party sales on Switch, at least for the foreseeable future.

I'd wait till Bethesda releasing numbers or gives their thoughts, because it's hard to gauge sales when sites like Vgchartz and such don't even track digital sales.

I really can't wait to know how good Skyrim did too! Elder Scrolls is something very special for me and I hope we will see more Elder Scrolls games in the future! Please Bethesda remake Oblivion!! I will buy it immediately both on Pc and on Switch!!

Don't have numbers but in the USA Nintendo released a list of the best selling games for 2017 and skyrim is on the list so I think it sold well. Again it is unclear if this list is just for America or if this is worldwide, but we know dragonball xenoverse 2 sold over 500,000 copies and it's not even on the list.

@PuppyToucher now that’s better numbers! Honestly I would have betted skyrim to have already sold a million considering the 10 million user base, 10% surely isn’t much to ask for such a huge well known game you can take on the go?

Deathwalka

@faint yeah true good point, I guess a game like that is a long term success as well as a short term,

@Deathwalka as @kkslider5552000 pointed out street fighter 2 has had some sales data released on it and skyrim also charted one spot ahead of that game for 2017.

@Deathwalka Well it’s as others have said. Skyrim was massive when it released and before it was even released on the Switch we had multiple versions of the game out, being the base game and the remastered version.

Most people I know that owned the original Skyrim went ahead and purchased the remaster, myself included and at that point I wouldn’t consider to spend over £30.00 on a game that I already own multiple times just to have it on the Switch.

If they brought out the remaster on the Switch the same point it released across the other platforms then I would have likely gotten the Switch version and I’m presuming that could be the same case with a lot of other people too.

On pc they gave Skyrim SE for free to people who already had Skyrim with all the expansion. I bought it for five euro (extremely cheap) a few years ago during Steam sales so many of the people who have it on pc have spent a lot less than people who had it on Playstation or XBox consoles. I would probably have bought it on Switch again anyway but not everybody have spent that much to play Skyrim before
