I remember back in the original Xbox days being absolutely hooked on the PGA series. I haven't played it since so looking forward to this one. A top notch joystick is key to this game and I finally bought the pro controller for this game. Just finished the download and I'm now about dive in and hopefully it will live up to the memories

Wait, huh? I was preordering this last week and GameStop said it is delayed for Switch and now September 25th. Guessing you mean the eShop digital.

I loved Tiger Woods on the Wii. Had some cool features at the time with the motion controls. Not sure this will capture the same feeling but would be good.

It's a sports game, so it'll hit the bargain bin this time next year.

Looks great, but no way am I spending $60 day one for this, no sir.

@CTmatic physical cart was delayed for Switch. Game released digitally everywhere today and physically everywhere except Switch today.
I'm probably gonna wait for a drop in price too, not in a big rush to play and don't have many friends picking it up on Switch.

Yeah after googling this morning I saw that (the only physical Switch delay). I’m definitely amped to play it. If there’s a new game that I want it’s very hard for me to be like...yeah....I’ll wait 5,6,7, or 8mths for a big price cut. I cave in and don’t have the patience. However, the problem is it’s a sports game. Not to sound like I’m ripping sports games but for me personally. I don’t play them a long span unless I’m really hooked. I’ll binge on it for a week or 2 then totally stop for a while, but I’m hearing fantastic things about it so I’m like ugh I’m so gonna cave and go to GameStop on Sept.25th. 😂@blockfight

It's definitely one I'd prefer to get physical than digital for trade in reasons.
Only reason I'm not caving and buying it when it comes out is I've enough to play for the moment. Ordinarily I'd probably cave like you

I bought it today digitally. it is exactly what it appears to be, a merciless golf sim, where you are punished for inaccurate shots with the wrong timing. I'm playing on amateur, may drop down to beginner.
There is VC, but you earn enough during play and its not shoved in your face to BUY BUY BUY like NBA 2k. My guess is the audience is older and is less tolerant of shenanigans. With that said, I wouldn't mind awesome fantasy course DLC(sort of the like the Amazon rainforest, Scottish highlands and Australian Outback courses from Tiger Woods). I also don't like that they limit you to golf fashion. I want to play as crazy characters please, but this is probably the wrong franchise for that.

I think it's quite impressive. The best golf game in many years. And on Switch, it's visually impressive as well. Unlike my immediate regret buying Origami King digitally, I'll be happy with this for a long long time.

I'm loving it so far, plays the same as I remember the old Xbox version did. I've spent a few happy hours cursing my inconsistencies and recording my epic puts.
It had crashed and dropped me back to the home menu a couple of times, but other than that I'm really happy.
I've never been into sports games, but this one is a keeper for me

@3dg3d3m0n - that's my only issue and one I'm reporting to 2K. I've played through 5 events and it has crashed 4 times on me, "the software closed due to an error". Luckily, this has always been after the round is over, so I've lost nothing, but it's a bug that needs to be fixed.

Haven't really owned an outright proper golf simulation game since probably Waialae Country Club on Nintendo 64 (obv. Mario Golf and Wii Sports golf don't count here), so I'll be picking this up.

Prefer physical copies of games, so currently tossing up whether to wait or bite the bullet and get the digital download. Looks good and could do with a change-up of a proper sports game on Switch.

I had to drop down to beginner after barely making it through the Korn Ferry Tour.
Doing straight shots are hard enough for me due to my poor fine motor skills, with the timing it's near impossible. However, I can make a custom difficulty to make it harder on me, so I'm not 10 under par every round. The only downside is I can't play online, but that's not really much of a loss.
Overall, I'd say this is a great game. Hopefully, they only make it better in future iterations, and not bog it down in VC transactions.

Pretty darn good game, all things considered, and I think the price is fair considering it's not any more expensive than any other new release, and it's a complete game with a lot of a content "out of the box". If you really want to buy the best swag straight away then you'll have to pay extra for whatever virtual currency 2K trades in, but it seems this is unnecessary as the game generously doles out the silver coins as you play. I've already earned over 1000, and I've only played four rounds. Starting the game for the first time is a pain in the backside because you're forced to SLOWLY scroll through the end user license agreements and click "I agree" before you're allowed to play, but subsequent play sessions take you directly to the main menu.

The play itself is excellent and at least as good as any other golf sim I've ever played. Computer golf sims were perfected decades ago (did anybody else play Leaderboard Golf on the Commodore 64?), and this really doesn't do anything to mess with the tried-and-true formula. Swinging is still essentially the old 3-click mechanic, except you're rocking the thumbstick back and forth instead of clicking a button.

Graphics are serviceable. Not the best I've seen (even taking the Switch's capabilities into consideration), and shadows occasionally create a strange banding across your character, but performance is smooth for the most part and, most importantly, does not interfere with your swing, which is the only thing that really matters in a golf sim. Whatever problems I have with hitting the ball are entirely my fault and not the game. I can drive down the fairway well enough, but I always seem to hit the green miles from the hole, so my approach shots need some work... and then there's putting. Let's just say I really need to improve my skills before I have any hope of finishing higher than last place in tournament!

So as far as filling the "serious" golf sim niche, I would say 2K has left very little room for the competition to do any better, but there's still plenty of room for something wacky like Mario Golf.

I'm really keen on this, but I don't trust Take Two. For all of EA's faults, if the franchise were still in their hands, we would almost certainly have the full game on cartridge at the very least.

If Take Two includes the full game on cartridge without some ridiculous 10GB download like the eShop page implies, then I'll consider grabbing this, but due to Take Two's contemptible anti-consumer practices, I will wait for a price drop regardless.

@Silly_G the full digital download is only 8.2GB. It will surely be full game on cart.

Glad to hear people speaking positively about this game. Definitely gonna wait for physical release though if I do purchase.

One bug I've encountered a couple of times (literally; it has happened only twice in 4 or 5 full rounds) is the green suddenly turning completely black making it impossible to line up a putt.

Anyone get the in-game voice chat going in online multiplayer? It was hard enough to get an in-game party going with all the network issues, but never got the voice chat going... had to WhatsApp it.

I discovered a big turn off in the game: The game is not playable on the go. If you don't have an internet connection or go offline, much of the game is locked, including the PGA Tour, which is the main single player component. It really sucks, TBH. Take this into account when purchasing this.
