Why is Nintendo Music not baked into the S2 operating system like/instead of, gamechat?
It feels like a missed opportunity or a major fail.
I don't want the app on my phone, but it would be great on the S2.
To use gamechat I need another family member with a S2 (which I dont have yet) and a friend code... so basically it's a wasted feature for my family and likely many others.
OS would be better utilised by letting me listen to music while I play.
Now I come to think of it, why does my £400 console not have a web browser or a youtube app?
They make games that already come with music, and knowing Nintendo they’d rather have you listen to the in-game music instead of building an os level feature that allows you to override it.
Having it as a separate smartphone app is much more productive in the end, even if the app itself is terrible. After all, the gaming console is for playing games… So using it as a media consumption device, when most people have better options already, would seem somewhat wasteful.
1. The phone app is fine. I also think there would be value in having it on the OS but in the grand scheme of things it's low on the list I feel. Get stuff like VRR working docked, improve the BC list, then we can talk about Nintendo Music
2. GameChat is great, just because you don't use it yet doesn't mean it isn't. Also this is their primary platform for the next 5-10 years and it has only been out for less than a month. You being the only person who has one isn't really saying much
3. They don't have a browser because a web browser is the most common vector for attacking the console. It would inevitably be used for loading unauthorised software. And you don't need a browser on the console, you seem to be accessing the internet fine. YouTube? That's on Google, not Nintendo

An opinion is only respectable if it can be defended. Respect people, not opinions
@VoidofLight
I was going to say there are ways to install Android apps on Windows officially. Built into Windows. But I never used it and just looked it up. Apparently they're discontinuing it and it was kinda garbage. Sounds about right...... I guess that's why nobody uses it
@skywake I genuinely didn't know it existed, but it makes sense for it to no longer be supported- or for it to be discontinued. I just wish Nintendo would make a PC client for the music app since I wanna listen to their music while working on stuff on my PC- and instead have to settle for covers that don't really carry the same feel of the song.
"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."
Yup, It would be cool to have a browser but will never happen as Nintendo is terrified of providing an avenue for hackers as for YouTube we'll just have to wait and see.
