@Sylamp take note here when one of the later drops is the animal crossing kk remixes and the couple songs missing off the star fox remake ost

so apparently the new battle mode maps for Star Fox have new music tracks
and those tracks are not included in the soundtrack release on the app
because of course

oh nvm, I just double checked and they just reuse music from the campaign levels these maps are based on

Nice to see Star Fox's soundtrack added in all its bombastic glory.

Recorded at none other than Abbey Road!

Shed Guy has decided to highlight the paltry releases for this month. Even after Star Fox, this is easily still my least favorite month this year.

i do think star fox might've saved it from being the worst month overall, but definitely still pretty low down.

i like the idea they threw star fox in not just to go with the update, but also so they could have at least one row of releases on the monthly recap notification to make it look less pathetic

So I've been re-listening to the Paper Mario music, at last. I have to admit, I still love the music, its still one of my top 5 games of all time...but even compared to other midi soundtracks of the era, there's something a bit annoying about how some of it sounds. Like its dated in ways that I don't often associate with Nintendo music. Like a lot of the SNES music has aged way better than it somehow. I've noticed that for a while, it makes me sad we're likely not getting a remake the same way SMRPG and TTYD got because the music needs updating more than those two.

That doesn't necessarily change how much I adore it, but its flaws are more apparent now. Like going back to a forgotten 80s pop classic only to hear the type of synth music they don't try to bring back even for 80s nostalgia.

If it wasn't for that one pathetic Special Release, this would actually be a pretty decent month imo. Paper Mario is great, Star Fox ain't too bad even if we already have a version of it, and while I don't think anyone was asking for Move It, it's nice to get a large (by track quantity) soundtrack out of the way. One of the releases being pretty much nothing really drags the whole month down, particularly when combined with the week off.*

(*Although I wonder if Star Fox was intended to make up for last week, and we'll get something else tonight? That's expecting too much from this app though lol)

I'm going to make my predictions for next week early in case they choose to do another surprise Sunday movie Direct like in January:

  • Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire
  • Metroid Dread
  • Echoes of Wisdom

Pokemon is the same logic as last week, Metroid Dread's 5th anniversary is on October 8th and if they chose to do a Zelda movie Direct it's possible we get another Zelda soundtrack.
